It was a pleasure to support The Mary How Trust for Cancer Prevention again at the EG Wholesale Golf day, sponsored by Bridgestone EMEA. The Trust offers life saving screening looking for early signs of many life threatening illnesses, such as heart disease, bowl cancer, diabetes and aortic aneurysm. American Cancer Society; When it comes to reducing your cancer risk, one important step could be right under your nose, or your feet. Getting your home tested for radon can help protect you and your family from a key cause of lung cancer. Exposure to radon accounts for about 21,000 deaths from lung cancer each year according to the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). While that is nowhere near the 480,000 deaths a year caused by smoking, it’s still significant. And it’s the leading cause of lung cancer in people who don't smoke. Radon R Us is here to help Michigan fight against High Radon Levels and minimize homeowners exposure to the harmful effects it may cause. We are so pleased to see the Government's commitment to eliminating asbestos-related diseases in Australia, with the announcement of their endorsement for phase three of the Asbestos National Strategic Plan today. Being exposed to asbestos increases the risk of developing cancers of the lung, ovary and larynx as well as mesothelioma (cancer of the lining of the lung). These cancers often develop decades after exposure to asbestos. This month is National Safe Work Month, and we know that many tradespeople are still at risk of being exposed to asbestos. While asbestos has been banned in Australia for over 20 years, asbestos still remains in many homes, particularly those built before 1990. It's fantastic to see continued action to eliminate asbestos-related diseases.
