I received this question from a job seeker the other day ... "I’ve been trying to improve my resume and LinkedIn profile and one piece of feedback I’ve received is that I need to include more figures when showing off my skills. I understand the reasons for this but I’m not sure I have any figure-backed experiences that show my skill set. What are your thoughts on including figures?" And here is my response: "YES, you need quantifiable measures on your resume and LinkedIn profile. It's the difference of 'show' vs. 'tell.' You can TELL me that you're a great employee, and that's fine, but it's more compelling if you can SHOW me you're a great employee by sharing your success metrics. I wrote a document that could help, check out the 'Story Stash.' You can access it here: https://lnkd.in/eTyJQRAv." If you're stumped about how to find quantifiable measures for your resume, check out my Story Stash, page 2. I've got loads of tips that will help. Once you find your quantifiable measures, include them in your resume AND your LinkedIn profile - both in the Experience and the About section. Include them in your cover letters too. #jobhunt #jobseekers #resume #LinkedIn

How to stand out when applying for jobs... 👇 Or at least try and get to the interview stage 👩🏫 · Gaps on your CV - I know a lot of people have been made redundant recently, but if you left your job in November 2023 for example, I would add something to show what you’ve been doing, instead of a long gap of the unknown. E.g. After redundancy from X, I have been taking some time to spend with family/travelling/completing some extra courses (state the courses)/taken up a new hobby. It doesn't matter what it is, just something to show it's not been 5 months of applying for roles and no one wants to employ you (I know the market's tough, no one come for me). You need to look fresh on the market, like you’ve literally just started applying for roles today and you’re not going to be on the market for long as you’ll be snapped up! · Make sure your LinkedIn is EXACTLY the same as your CV, even if it’s as simple as your CV says your last job ended November 2023 but your LinkedIn says January 2024. It looks slack, confusing as to which one it is, and one of them you haven’t taken the time to update before applying. · Your CV is a mini portfolio of your work - especially as you’re in marketing, so make sure it’s aesthetically appealing to look at! It’s clear, reads well and it looks good. It shows what you can do and your marketing style, so sell yourself! · Attention to detail on your CV - it doesn’t matter if you use full stops after bullet points or not, but pick one and make sure it's consistent throughout. If you're not consistent on your CV, how does the employer know you won't make the same mistakes publishing work on their website? Any other tips? #jobhunting #CVtips #marketing

🌟Transform you job application approach🌟 Over the past months, I have read about people sending in job applications without getting response from the companies. 🚀 Albert Einstein once said, "Insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results." So why not switch up your job application game with some creative approaches? Here are some innovative ways to stand out and land that dream interview: 1️⃣ Networking Events: Attend industry-related events to make connections and get your foot in the door with potential employers. 2️⃣ Project Proposal: Instead of a traditional resume, submit a project proposal outlining how you would tackle a specific challenge the company is facing. 3️⃣ Infographic Resume: Ditch the traditional resume and create an eye-catching infographic that highlights your achievements in a visually appealing way. Don't be afraid to think outside the box and show off your unique skills and personality. Feel free to connect with me privately if you need help. Good luck on your job search! 🚀💼 #JobSearch #InterviewTips #CareerSuccess #JobApplication

Is your resume getting the attention it deserves? If not, here are just a few quick suggestions… 👇 ✔ Construct a branding statement at the top that grabs attention & conveys your background in less than 8 words. ✔ Place your 70-90 word Value Proposition Summary beneath it & load it up with hard-hitting keywords that typically appear in the job descriptions that are of interest to you. ✔ Avoid using “no value” words such as: passionate, collaborative, results-driven, loyal, energetic, team player, etc. Anyone can say these words—soft skills don’t get your interviews (even if they appear in the job description. Hard skills differentiate you… and employers are looking for the critical “skill” words that tie to the most important requirements of the job. ✔ Make sure your resume reads like a list of achievements & not like a job description of responsibilities. Hint... start with a past tense verb. ✔ Have a second version of your resume that is compliant with Applicant Tracking Systems (ATS). ✔ Find people in your network that can take your resume & get it in front of hiring managers &/or key influencers.
