🥇 Who else is watching SIMONE BILES in the 2024 Paris Olympic Games? One of the greatest gymnasts of all time, Simone led Gymnastics Team USA to gold last night, and it was quite something to see. 🔄 But 4 years ago in Tokyo, it was quite a different story. Simone openly struggled with mental health issues amidst the global pandemic, and describes in her recent documentary how difficult it was to be at the Olympics without a community of support around her. 🧠 We all understand the real impact of loneliness and isolation on mental health. In fact, this is a key factor that inspired our journey at Urban Campus. We are dedicated to addressing the growing disconnect among urban city dwellers through community-centric coliving spaces. Here are a few key approaches we take: 💡 Self-Driven Activities: Budgets are allocated for our colivers to start their own clubs & events. 📅 Regular UC Events: We regularly host official UC events, from paintball to escape rooms. 🎁 Local Perks: Colivers enjoy city-wide discounts and perks. 🔍 Selection Process: We uphold a detailed application process to ensure our tenants are open-minded and eager to participate in community activities. 📱 Community App: Our personalized platform for colivers to connect and stay updated. Because whether you're an Olympian or not, the cornerstone of our collective well-being is community. Our Coliving Spaces 👉 https://bit.ly/3xYUwzJ

3 questions to ask if you're struggling to improve retention and grow your in-person community. 1. Do you have an event or challenge each month for the community to look forward to? 2. What does your teams day-to-day interaction with your community look like? 3. (This one is really important) Does your community have opportunities for activity outside of the gym? 4. For your answers above, are you consistent at implementing them and should you do more or better?

🌟🌟#mentalhealthawarenessweek 2024, is all about movement. But let’s make it accessible…… The #activityalliancesurvey reported; “Disabled people were more likely to say they wanted to be more active compared to non-disabled people (77% vs 54%). There is a clear spending gap for what disabled people are spending and want to spend on physical activity. Disabled people reported spending an average of £13.40 less than non-disabled people in being active each month. Disabled people want to spend more than non-disabled people on being active (34% vs 27%), whereas non-disabled people were more likely to want to spend less (27% vs 19%). However – many disabled people fear that being more active will result in their benefits or financial assistance being removed (37%). Almost two-thirds (64%) of disabled people said the government should focus on making activities affordable to help more people to be active. Nearly two-thirds of disabled people who felt lonely agreed that being active could help them feel less lonely (65%).” So what can we do!!! Check out; 👀 https://lnkd.in/eEmN2Ttq Great resources are available! We must do better with inclusion. 🚷Well-being walks…. But accessible 🏀Team sports … but accessible 🪩Exercise classes and clubs… make them accessible! #mhaw2024 #mentalhealth #accessiblemovement #inclusion #activityalliance

The Aspen Institute's Project Play State of Play 2024 report reveals both challenges and opportunities in youth sports, and our latest blog post on ActivSportAdvisory.com takes a deeper look inside these findings. As someone deeply invested in this space, we wanted to share some key takeaways that demand attention for coaches, educators, administrators and communities. https://lnkd.in/gGJkitK5 Three Critical Challenges Coach Training Gap - Parents want well-trained coaches. - In the current environment, too many lack basic safety certifications. - There’s a critical need for standardized training in CPR/AED/First Aid, conditioning, and concussion management. Declining Youth Activity - Physical activity among young people continues to drop. - This has long-term implications for their health and overall development - It will take systematic change to reverse this trend. Access Barriers - "Pay to play" models create financial hurdles. - Unequal distribution of sports facilities - Limited opportunities in under-resourced communities The Path Forward: 1. Mandate comprehensive safety training for all youth coaches 2. Support legislation like the PHIT (Personal Health Investment Today) Act to make sports more affordable 3. Invest in community sports infrastructure, especially in underserved areas The message is clear: We need to reimagine youth sports with a focus on safety, accessibility, and inclusion. It's time for stakeholders across the spectrum – from policymakers to parents, community leaders to fitness professionals – to step up and create meaningful change. Let's make 2025 the year we transform youth sports into what it should be: a safe, accessible, and enriching experience for every child. #YouthSports #SportsDevelopment #Coaching #PhysicalActivity #CommunityDevelopment

New data from Sport England shows that the annual social value of community sport and physical activity is £107.2 billion. Active children and young people (aged 11 to 16) generate a wellbeing value of £4,100 annually; for fairly active children, it’s £3,100. In 2023, we engaged 1503 young people for £3,100 per young person, for a total wellbeing value of £4.6 million.
