This week, #Geosciences students had the privilege of attending a transformative DSI-NRF CIMERA outreach workshop at the Wits School of Geosciences, University of the Witwatersrand. Over two insightful days, Dr Raimon Tolosana-Delgado guided participants through the hands-on Predictive Geometallurgy, emphasizing the importance of modeling—from first principles to stochastic analysis. The workshop shed light on understanding uncertainty throughout the entire minerals value chain, equipping participants with valuable tools and perspectives. There is growing attention to the development of innovative extraction methods, such as hydrometallurgy and eco-mining, which allow the extraction of minerals with minimal environmental impact. 🌍 Global Trends Worldwide, there is increasing focus on the transition to sustainable energy and the adoption of "green" technologies in the mining industry.
