🌟 Tips for a Successful Back-to-School Transition 🌟 🎯Establish a Routine 🕰️: Gradually reintroduce a school-year routine a few weeks before school starts. Set consistent wake-up and bedtime schedules to help children adjust their internal clocks and ease the transition back to school. 🎯Review Academic Material 📚: Spend some time each day reviewing key concepts from the previous school year. This can include reading, math exercises, or educational games. It helps refresh their memory and sets a solid foundation for the upcoming year. 🎯Organize School Supplies ✏️: Get a head start on school supply shopping and involve your child in the process. Organizing their supplies and setting up their study area at home can create excitement and a sense of readiness for the new school year. 🎯Discuss Goals and Expectations 🎯: Have a conversation with your child about their goals and expectations for the upcoming school year. Did you know that most teachers spend at least $500 each year to fund their classroom environment? We purchase snacks, school supplies, classroom decorations, books, organizational equipment, and supplementary curriculum, among other things. In my third year of teaching, I realized that being a teacher didn't have to mean going broke to fund my classroom. I started using programs like DonorsChoose and AdoptAClassroom.org to help me with classroom expenses and projects for my students. I advise both new and experienced teachers to create accounts on these platforms and share them with their friends. These platforms have allowed me to tap into my personal and professional networks to ask for resources. I've found that there are always people willing to support teachers. Like most educators, I can always use a helping hand, and I've found that many are happy to help. Sometimes it's our relatives and friends, and other times it's an anonymous donor or an organization. I've had tremendous success using these platforms over the years, and I'm very grateful that they exist to help teachers. If you're a teacher or you know one who is about to spend a lot of money at Lakeshore for the "biggest sale of the year," please consider signing up for an AdoptaClassroom account first. Then, share your page link with people who know you. Did you know that 1 in 4 children leave primary school unable to read well?  This month, IICF’s story of impact features Bookmark Reading Charity, which helps children to develop a deep and enduring love of reading as well as the reading skills they need for future success. IICF’s 2024 grant has allowed Bookmark to enter new communities – providing library packs to more than six schools, with each pack including 200 new books and a subscription to Story Corner magazine for one year. This equates to almost 5,000 new books and reading materials to schools and reaching approximately 1,504 children. At the same time, 90% of teachers supported by Bookmark have been inspired to develop either their school's reading for pleasure provision, their reading spaces, or their school’s reading culture. “'I have seen a huge difference in the children’s attitude to reading.
