🚀 **Understanding 2:1 Traction Ratio Elevators** 🚀 A 2:1 traction ratio elevator system means the car moves at half the speed at which the cable is wound or unwound. This setup reduces the motor's load, allowing the use of a smaller motor, but requires more cable and additional pulley travel. ### Key Characteristics: 1. **2:1 Ratio**: For every meter the motor winds or unwinds the cable, the elevator cab moves only 0.5 meters. 2. **Advantages**: - Reduced effort for the motor. - Handles heavier loads without increasing motor power. - More energy-efficient for certain types of vessels. 3. **Disadvantages**: - More cables and pulleys required. - Increased maintenance due to additional components. ### Application: Typically implemented in medium-height vessels and elevators that need to transport heavy loads, such as freight or service elevators.
