Hire a VP of Sales if you're not a founder who likes to sell They will build out your sales org & scale your revenue After you raise money, you have the funds to afford this person If they come from a big company, they can bring customers and sellers with them As a founder, you have more important things to do ... Here’s the truth about hiring sales people... We’re f*cking charming That’s what makes it so challenging. You sit across from us, see a nice smile, and think “damn, this person’s great!” You get so fired up that you start making excuses: “Who cares if their experience isn’t perfect?” “Of course their references are gonna be cherry-picked” That’s exactly why you need to be disciplined when hiring. Don’t let a charming salesperson distract you from doing the real work of vetting properly. #sales
