There are several other commodities besides coffee that require you to be registered before 30th December 2024 in order to continue selling to the European market. In a bid to protect forests, the European Union came up with Deforestation Regulations that farmers and other agents along the chain should comply with Farmers or dealers in coffee, wood, soy, cocoa, palm oil, cattle and rubber plus the products derived from these commodities need to register and carry out an assessment It is all about forest and ecosystem protection, land areas with 10% canopy cover of the trees according to FAO and trees with 5 meters qualify to be forests and these should not converted into agricultural lands anymore. #FarmerRegistration #EUDR #ForestProtection

National Grain Company, a joint venture between the Saudi Agricultural and Livestock Investment Co. (SALIC) and Bahri, inaugurated the Yanbu Grain Handling Terminal on Dec. 22 at Yanbu Commercial Port. In #Lebanon, explosive ordnance limits land cultivation, disrupts markets, and impacts livelihoods. It can also drive people from rural areas, resulting in lost agricultural expertise. MAG (Mines Advisory Group) spoke with communities to understand how they can help local stakeholders repair food systems. Their findings showed the economic crisis hindered many farmers from using cleared land due to rising costs of feed, fertilizer, and fuel. Additionally, EO contamination impacts those downstream of the supply chain who rely on seasonal employment for #FoodSecurity.
