Working in healthcare one of the greatest developments I believe are not only the 8 National Healthcare Standards, but also the clinical care care standards. There are now 19! Some of which are mandatory, some under review and one under development. It has never been clearer how to deliver the safest care for these conditions, following gold standard process. And as a consumer, you can be informed of what to expect if you are admitted for a condition linked to an Australian standard of clinical care. https://lnkd.in/gMgsnWDv

Ce se mai lauda si astia: "Due to the high-quality nationwide registries, person-level linkage between registries, and complete follow-up, Scandinavian countries are an optimal setting to address comparative effectiveness and safety of anticoagulants in routine clinical practice. Other strengths include universal access to healthcare, similar clinical practice, as well as uniform recording practices, comparable patterns of hospitalization and referral to specialist care"

Today we highlight the critical importance of safety measures in clinical trials. Ensuring patient safety isn't just a responsibility—it's a cornerstone of ethical and effective medical research. Clinical trials pave the way for new treatments and innovations, but without stringent safety protocols, progress can come at a cost. As we observe World Patient Safety Day, let's remember that safeguarding the well-being of participants is essential to advancing healthcare for all. #PatientSafety #ClinicalTrials #WorldPatientSafetyDay

❗️ Diagnostic tools are essential for clinicians ❗️ I'm sure I'm not alone in being alarmed to read about measures potentially being put in place that limit access to critical diagnostic tools, such as CT scans, due to financial pressures. While managing deficits is important, we must not compromise the ability of healthcare professionals to make informed, accurate decisions that directly impact patient outcomes. The HSJ article highlights, removing these tools which are labelled as "non-essential" could have serious consequences. Diagnostic imaging plays a pivotal role in early detection, monitoring, and treatment planning. It is not just a luxury; it’s a necessity for effective clinical care. Healthcare should never be forced into a position where budget constraints overshadow patient safety. Let’s ensure clinicians have the resources they need to provide the best possible care. 🏥🔍 #Healthcare #ClinicalDecisions #PatientSafety #Diagnostics #CTScans #HealthcareFinance

When starting out, we had not realized how unique Sweden is in terms of how medical notes are written - with both an incredibly high quality bar and high complexity. As we are expanding internationally, we are though now realizing that this trial by fire has forced Tandem to develop superpowers. Here's why: 🔍 In Sweden, every patient can access their own medical notes through the national platform 1177, which connects all electronic health records nationwide. This transparency means that medical notes are held to an extraordinarily high standard. Patients expect accuracy, detail, and quality, and they don't hesitate to point out issues. 🧩 No standardized templates, having over 10,000 unique templates in just the Stockholm region! Each clinic has its own way of structuring information, and even simple primary care visits often use templates with 50+ sections. This compares to other countries, where the four-section SOAP (Subjective, Objective, Assessment, Plan) format is frequently used as a golden standard. 📝 Structured data format requirements for quality registers. Sweden’s rigorous data reporting standards (e.g., 300+ variables being logged for the National Diabetes Registry) means we've had to master multiple output types, from dropdowns to text fields to multiple choices. Otherwise the automatic transfer to the electronic health record system doesn't work. Read more in my blogpost in the link in the comments below!

The American Medical Association recently held its Annual Meeting. Unsurprisingly, prior authorization processes were among the key discussion points. Prior authorization is an often-frustrating process that physicians and other healthcare professionals face regularly. The lack of information included in denial letters is particularly concerning, according to an AMA Council on Medical Service report adopted at the Annual Meeting. Learn how AMA will push for payers to include detailed information in prior auth denial letters. https://hubs.la/Q02CVbys0
When health plans delay and deny, they must say why
