Last year, I wrote the article below on sports clubs (and others!) embracing solar power. Now, Manchester City has taken an impressive step forward by aiming to become one of the largest producers of renewable power in football. 🌍   🔆 The ambitious application is for the installation of nearly 11,000 solar panels at their training complex at the Joie Stadium, where Manchester City Women and the Academy teams are based. 🌿 Pete Bradshaw, City’s Director of Sustainability, has commented that “this initiative will completely offset the energy needed for day-to-day operations at the City Football Academy. Pending approval from Manchester City Council, the installation of 10,887 solar panels is set to make the Academy one of the world's largest producers of renewable energy in football. Notably, this will not only offset the Academy's energy usage but also contribute to powering the iconic Etihad Stadium.
