We're delighted to be at the Strategic Navigation Forum today in Brussels, organised by JPI Oceans, a Decade Implementing Partner! This high-level gathering aims to pioneer discussions on the future of marine and maritime research and innovation, looking beyond 2025. Alison Clausen, Deputy Coordinator of the #OceanDecade, will take part in the panel on marine and maritime priorities in the European and global context, happening at 1.15pm CET. This is to share with you all interested the position paper of the Ethiopian Seed Association (EAS) that clearly identify key priority issues for policy and development interventions. It was a great event to attend the deliberations of the National Seed Forum organized by ESA that led to the position paper. It is my full hope that relevant actors (both at national and regional level not only public ones but also development partners and private actors) will give due attention to the issues identified that are crucial for the transformation of the seed sector. https://lnkd.in/dnkMURkt

Join our session during XMAS7 in Xiamen City, China early next year! I will be co-convening the session on "Assessment and Simulation of Coupled Human-sea Systems", where we focus on the coupling points and mechanisms between humans and ecosystems in coastal zones. In other words, socio-ecological interactions in coastal zones. Joint discussion will be held on the key scientific and practical management issues about coupled human-sea systems for promoting the sustainable development of the coastal zones.

This year, the conferences have focused on two fundamental topics for the maritime sector: safety and sustainability, bringing together leaders and experts from around the world to address key challenges and opportunities in these areas. OCIMF was pleased to represent and attend the International Marine Contractors Association's (IMCA) Global Summit in Utrecht, The Netherlands earlier this month. The two-day summit had been designed to bring industry together to explore current issues, share best practice and debate possible solutions. The programme was an engaging mix of interactive panel discussions, keynote speeches and presentations with subjects ranging from an analysis of future energy markets, the future demand for offshore vessels and sustainability. Day 2 focused heavily on the human element including engaging talks by Todd Conklin on Human and Organisational Principals (HOP) and an impactful final keynote ‘Last Breath’ by Chris Lemons, the saturation diver who survived on the seabed following a severed umbilical. Thank you to IMCA (International Marine Contractors Association) for hosting this engaging event. We look forward to further collaboration on these important industry issues.
