“My favourite thing about being a teacher is the positive relationships I can build with students, like when a student understands something you have been teaching them, or they thank you for your lesson, or the conversations you have with them in the corridor or the playground. Small moments that make it all worthwhile.” United Learning United Teaching #teaching #teachers #education #schools
Meet Rachel, a passionate new trainee at Paddington Academy 👩🏫 Inspired by her father’s teaching career and her own experiences abroad, this year Rachel began her teacher training career after graduating from university. “I’ve always been drawn to teaching. My experiences abroad and in schools showed me both the challenges and the joys of the profession. I wanted to be part of that positive impact on students’ lives.” “As a Gen Z teacher, I’ve found I can relate more to my students and vice versa. However, Gen Z teachers need to find a balance between being relatable and maintaining a professional distance.” “Each generation of teachers has their own experiences and challenges, but they all have the underlying shared goal of nurturing young minds and igniting a love for learning. We can all learn from each other.” “My favourite thing about being a teacher is the positive relationships I can build with students, like when a student understands something you have been teaching them, or they thank you for your lesson, or the conversations you have with them in the corridor or the playground. Small moments that make it all worthwhile.”

Thank you for the mention! I had a fantastic time at the session. Here are a few reflections: 1. Entrepreneurial thinking is often overhyped. Instead of focusing solely on entrepreneurial skills, let’s prioritize thinking well. Skills like creativity and problem-solving aren't just for entrepreneurs—they're essential traits of successful professionals in any field. 2. In the fast-evolving world of AI, consider careers that harness our uniquely human qualities. The true value of our actions lies in our fallibility—the very potential to make mistakes adds meaning to each good decision we make. This is a quality that AI, no matter how advanced, simply can’t replicate.
It was an absolute pleasure to share a platform with four such cogent and passionate educators who together discussed how education can bridge the gap with industry. Thankyou to Patrice Choong, Thabo Metcalfe, Christine Sommers and Vincent Chian for driving the discussion forward and EDUtech Asia for providing a platform. The need for education to understand the changing landscape of the world of work is so important and that was a compelling reason in West Buckland School, co-ed day and boarding school for 3-18 year olds in North Devon implementing the IB Career Related Program as a choice for its sixth-form students.

The third day of Legal Cheek's Winter Vacation Scheme kicked off with an engaging session on BCLP's global departments, hosted by Ellie Powell and Max D. It was fascinating to learn about their application process and the exciting areas of innovation within the firm, such as digital transformation, artificial intelligence, and sports technology. At the Employability Expo, I attended a session on "Writing Effective CVs and Cover Letters" led by Louise Musgrave from The University of Law As a first-year student, this was incredibly insightful, offering practical guidance on creating standout CVs and understanding what firms value most in candidates. I also joined Kira Williams' session on "How to Impress at Interviews", which covered essential topics like the STAR framework and provided excellent tips on effective communication and tackling competency-based questions. Excited to see what Day 4 has in store!
