Have you got your pitch ready for Talk It Up? 🤔 In the build-up to the hottest unconference of the year, we're sharing some content that has got us thinking and talking… A few weeks ago we asked ‘How can we better assess and improve Council-Community Relationships?’ Which was inspired by the 'Powering up communities to deliver local wellbeing' report that was developed by Inspiring Communities for Western Bay of Plenty District Council. This report looks at six locally-led initiatives doing amazing things to enable well-being. The report shares these case studies and advice on how Councils can more effectively support and partner with local anchor organisations in our communities. It's packed full of practical suggestions and gold nuggets. Here are just a few questions it prompted for us: · What are the Council rules and practices that get in the way of the community doing good, and how can we shift them? · Outcomes vs outputs - how do we shift the conversations to enable community groups in ways that are meaningful for them? · What systems do we have in place within the Council to support collaboration with community groups? · How do we measure the quality of relationships? Did this pique your interest? Dive into the report for more detail (link in comments) and pitch your questions as a session at Talk It Up! 17 and 18 October, Ōtautahi Christchurch - get your tickets at http://talkitup.nz before 30 Sept.

I was adding to this post I’m sharing about the Westerville Area Chamber than realized it started sounding just like the review they shared (that I wrote) so I just stopped 🤣 I will say this tho… 1. Your company should join your local chamber. (Very low 💵 fees) 2. Your company should support the local chamber. (Sponsor events etc) 2. You should look to add value to your business community. (Not sell) 3) As you are adding that value, you might make some friends 🤝 along the way (scratch that, you WILL) 4. You might even just get some 💰business from it. (But only after you do what? Yep, add value) BIG NEWS!!! 🥳 RevLocal’s corporate office is moving from Granville to Westerville! Guess who that means you will be seeing more of? So sorry! But seriously, I can’t wait. See ya soon! #chamber #localchamber #networking #smbmarketing #franchisemarketing #revlocalrj #2ndhalf
Thanks R.J. for your review! "I’ve really enjoyed my association with the Westerville Chamber. The staff and board members do a fantastic job of putting on great events, from after hours, to small business groups, informative, relevant luncheons and more. I’d highly recommend any person looking to get involved in the Westerville community to go ahead and make the decision to join the chamber and reap the many benefits!" #TestimonialTuesday #WestervilleAreaChamber #WestervilleOH #supportlocal #Westerville #WestervilleEvents #GoogleReview

How can Business Events help promote social inclusion? This case study published by Destinations International "Tampa Case Study: Empowering Communities Through Inclusive Business Events" looks at how their 2024 Annual Conference held in Tampa Bay succeeded in doing this. I was a skeptic myself when it was announced that the Annual Conference was going to be hosted in Tampa Bay, with Florida State's anti-DEI legislation. But having attended the Conference and experiencing how this was taken as an opportunity to support Tampa Bay and to positively impact the community, I see the success of how Business Events can drive social inclusion. Key points: *work with local organizations to incorporate them into the program and provide opportunities for delegates to engage and support - "Feeding Tampa Bay Food Security Event" *invest in local minority-owned businesses - "Sunset Market Local Event" *offsite events to immerse delegates into the local community and culture showcasing diverse vendors and suppliers -"Ybor City Closing Reception" Learn more here: https://lnkd.in/gscrb-mQ Toolkit: https://lnkd.in/g7ZrxTxj
