Attention HR and global mobility departments 🚨 Whether it's for a business trip or holiday, it's crucial for you and your international employees to stay informed about temporary border controls across several Schengen countries. Encourage your team to carry both their passport and residence cards when traveling by land, air, and sea to avoid complications at border checks. If you have international employees awaiting permit decisions, caution is even more critical. Travellers who are awaiting decisions but have expired permits could face problems entering Schengen countries, even Sweden, under current conditions. 🔔 Don't forget to follow us to stay up to date on immigration news and relocation tips! #Immigration #Schengen #Travel #BorderControl #ResidencePermits #GlobalMobility #HR

Traveling within the Schengen region during the holidays? Don't forget your passport and your residence card 🪪 The Schengen region, which has long enjoyed open internal borders, is currently facing temporary border controls by several EU countries due to increased security threats. If you are traveling within the Schengen region during the holidays, remember to carry your passport and residence card, even if you only intend to travel by land. Some relevant border controls for Swedish residence permit holders include: - Sweden 🇸🇪 Controls at all internal borders by land, sea, and air until May 11th, 2025. - Denmark 🇩🇰 Controls at all internal borders and land and sea borders with Germany until May 11th, 2025. - Norway 🇳🇴 Controls at all internal borders by land, air, and sea until May 11th, 2025. - Germany 🇩🇪 Controls at borders with Poland, Switzerland, and Czechia until December 15th, 2024, with a potential for extension. Controls at borders with France, Belgium, The Netherlands, Luxembourg, Austria, and Denmark until March 15th, 2025. - The Netherlands 🇳🇱 Controls at land and air borders with Belgium and Germany until June 8th, 2025. If you are awaiting a decision, be cautious when traveling within the Schengen region. While open internal borders have made travel less risky during decision periods, the current situation increases the likelihood of border checks. If you are waiting on a decision and your previous permit has expired, your right to enter a Schengen country (even when returning home to Sweden) is not guaranteed.
