The Ministry of Natural Resources and Environmental Sustainability (NRES) unveiled the National Climate Change Policy 2.0 (NCCP 2.0) on September 30. This overarching policy establishes a roadmap for Malaysia's shift to a low-carbon economy. It integrates all climate-related initiatives and offers guidance on governance, low-carbon development, adaptation, climate financing and international cooperation that helps Malaysia to achieve its emissions reduction goal. Understanding CBAM: CBAM aims to level the playing field by imposing a carbon price on imports from countries with less stringent climate policies. This ensures that domestic businesses committed to reducing their carbon footprint are not disadvantaged by cheaper, high-carbon imports. 

Malaysia and Singapore have established a partnership in climate action through the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on Collaborative Approaches under Article 6, Paragraph 2 of the Paris Agreement. According to a statement from the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environmental Sustainability (NRES), both countries look forward to establishing a binding bilateral agreement and have affirmed their continued partnership for sustainable growth and environmental stewardship. Southeast Asia (SEA) is looking to drive the region’s environmental, social and governance credentials through a recent boom in green taxonomies. Striving to establish a common language among the individual frameworks of each SEA country, the Asean taxonomy focuses on four environmental objectives; climate change mitigation, climate change adaptation, protection of healthy ecosystems and biodiversity and resource resilience.
