The first workshop will be held on Thursday, June 13, 2024, 9 am - 5 pm PT/ 12 - 8 pm ET, and the second on Friday, June 14, 2024, 9 am - 3:30 pm PT/ 12 - 6:30 pm ET. The workshop will focus on understanding and responding to increasing fire size, severity, and frequency since the 1970s. The public workshop will also focus on policy/practice considerations, research/data needs, and community engagement strategies as it seeks to identify gaps in knowledge, the value of filling those gaps, strategies for doing so, and what disciplines must work together. PhD Journal of Occupational and Environmental Medicine 66(11):p 932-942, November 2024. | DOI: 10.1097/JOM.0000000000003202 These findings indicate that firefighters may enhance air consumption efficiency through training interventions focused on improving body composition the metabolic tolerance to work. Firefighters should also be mindful of excessive and unnecessary load carriage, as increasing gear mass was also associated with poorer air consumption efficiency. LEARNING OUTCOMES After reading this article, the reader will be able to: Understand how air consumption efficiency contributes to safe and effective fireground performance among structural firefighters.
