Schulich Professor Charles H. Cho, PhD, CPA and co-author Professor Ericka Costa discuss the transformative role, the current challenges and the outlook of sustainability accounting education (SAE) in a new publication. "Based on this review, we argue that universities can enhance the SDGs by training skilled young people in sustainability accounting, thus fostering a “transformative role” in society. The authors highlight two directions for expanding SAE: (1) there is an urgent need to improve the accounting curriculum, thus including greater attention to ecological systems, business ethics and values; and (2) new inclusive and constructionist pedagogies should be offered to radically transform the education of future accounting professionals." https://lnkd.in/gzY2Uyuf

Green Accounting: Europe’s First Conference on Sustainable Accounting Practices 🌍 Companies today face increasing demands to integrate sustainability into their accounting practices. But what does it truly mean to practice "green accounting"? On September 5-6, Europe’s first conference dedicated to sustainable accounting, ESARC, will bring together leading researchers and experts at Aalborg University Business School to explore this very question. Gunnar Rimmel, Professor at Aalborg University Business School explains: "Sustainable accounting involves looking beyond traditional financial metrics to include environmental and social factors in a company’s reporting. It is essential for the future, where transparency and accountability will be crucial for success." Why is such a conference important? "ESARC serves as a platform for researchers to exchange knowledge and develop new methods that can help companies integrate sustainability into their core operations. The future demands that we think differently, starting with how we measure and report our impact." We look forward to the valuable insights and contributions that will shape the future of green accounting practices. 🌱 #Sustainability #GreenAccounting #ESARC #SustainablePractices #aaudk
