A perfect way to celebrate a successful CXFS event is by planting 300 trees! At CXFS, we believe in the power of unity and collective action to protect our planet. That's why we partnered with One Tree Planted, a nonprofit dedicated to global reforestation, to plant trees. They raise awareness about the importance of trees, offer a sustainability solution everyone can participate in (and feel good about), and motivate younger generations to do something positive for the environment. As Earth Day approaches, it's time to reflect on our planet's beauty and our responsibility to protect it. We are doing our small part to positively impact the environment by pledging funds to Trees That Count a collective and inclusive mission to plant native trees across New Zealand. We’ve also setup a tree registry page on their website, with the aim of donating 2,000 trees (twice the number from 2023), in the lead up to IANZ’s annual conference this year, in August. BrightCarbon was certified for our 1% for the Planet giving for 2023 last month. That means we donated 1% of our annual revenue (not profit) for last year to environmental causes. We'll do it again in future years too. Our two largest donations were to Cool Earth and Earthjustice - although we also gave to five national and local charities. Our BrightCarbon environment committee suggested organisations we could donate to, and then all employees were given a chance to vote on those choices - with our giving proportionate to the votes received in different categories. I'm not certain, but I hope that involving the entire team makes this feel like everyone's donation - we all worked to make the money, and we all had a say in where it was spent. 1% of our revenue isn't going to be enough to save the planet, obviously. But if more companies did this, more good would be done. At a time when people are looking for meaning in what they do, this makes every project we deliver count for something bigger too. No greenwashing, no navel-gazing, just one small attempt to do some good. P.S. A photo of the northern lights, which I completely missed last week when they were actually visible from my street.

Today, on the 22nd of April, we celebrate Earth Day, a day dedicated to raising awareness about our planet and taking action to protect it. At Bentley, we strive not only to be a successful business but also to have a positive impact on the world around us.   This year, we would like to highlight one of our initiatives that we are particularly proud of: our partnership with Trees for All. As a partner of Trees for All, we make an annual donation to contribute to tree planting efforts, an essential step in preserving our ecosystems and reducing our ecological footprint.   But it doesn't stop there. We also want to involve our customers in this important work. That's why we are introducing a new option during the ordering process: the opportunity to donate a tree. At the end of the year, all donated trees, along with our own contribution, will be added to our donation to Trees for All. I've just signed up as a supporter of this amazing project, helping create a healthier environment locally. And going some small way to helping offset my carbon footprint in the process. And ok, so there's a family connection to this... it's just one initiative from my son Elliot Riley! - But more importantly, the key aims of the project are to: 1. Plant trees 2. Create multi-generational sources of organic food in public spaces 3. Get kids and the community connected to nature 4. Take waste away from landfill - and use it to build an ecosystem 5.
