Steve Tshwete Municipality set a goal to reduce the number of reported GBVF cases. To achieve this, they embarked on a number of community awareness and capacity building campaigns. Halfway through their challenge, the team observed an increase in reported cases. So they regrouped.. What they discovered was that many community members lacked knowledge about how to report cases or access available support. Even those who knew how to report often distrusted the system’s ability to handle their cases effectively. My philosophy is straightforward: I refuse to shy away from addressing the shortcomings within my community.
