The Government of India has come out with guidelines for funding of testing facilities, infrastructure, and institutional support for development of standards and regulatory framework under the National Green Hydrogen Mission. The Scheme Guidelines have been issued by the Ministry of New & Renewable Energy (MNRE) on July 4, 2024. The scheme will support identification of the gaps in the existing testing facilities for components, technologies, and processes in the value chain of green hydrogen & its derivatives. The scheme will support creation of new testing facilities and upgradation of existing testing facilities to ensure safe and secure operations. The scheme will be implemented with a total budgetary outlay of Rs.200 crore till FY26. The National Institute of Solar Energy (NISE) will be the Scheme Implementation agency (SIA). #solar #greenhydrogen

In 2023 we released the Hydrogen standards review report, a thorough review of technical standards governing the production, distribution, and utilisation of hydrogen that might enable the safe integration of hydrogen across New Zealand’s energy landscape. The review led to a recommendation to directly adopt relevant international standards that would allow New Zealand to draw upon international good practice and tried and tested solutions. This represented an economical and efficient way to pave the path for hydrogen integration and safety. Now, we invite you to review the 13 draft international hydrogen-related standards proposed for adoption. Hydrogen integration impacts many industries – from those working with storage facilities, to transport and decentralised distribution and piping – we encourage you to have your say on how these would work for you and your industry. India needs 24x7 availability of power for its economic growth; however, this power cannot be achieved by renewable energy sources alone. Thermal energy cannot be written off till storage becomes cost-effective for Round-the-Clock supply through Renewable Energy. On May 27, 2024, the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) issued office memorandums announcing a significant policy shift in relation to Green Hydrogen regime in India. Renewable energy power plants located in Special Economic Zones or Export Oriented Units that supply power specifically to green hydrogen production units have been exempted from the requirements of the Approved List of Models and Manufacturers and the Revised List of Models and Manufacturers. This strategic exemption is aimed at accelerating the growth of green hydrogen production by easing regulatory constraints on these power plants. IndusLaw’s M.
