More Batteries for Renewable Energy are Needed for True Energy Independence & Emission-Free Power The sun provides an astonishing amount of energy—just one hour of sunlight could meet global energy demands for an entire year. Yet, harnessing this daily gift fully is the next big scientific and engineering challenge. To make solar and other renewable sources viable on a large scale, we need more advanced and local battery storage to ensure a stable supply. Energy independence relies on breaking free from fossil fuels. With effective energy storage, we can capture and use clean energy on demand, fostering a self-sufficient and climate-friendly economy. Solar technology, combined with widespread electromobility, will help to create a future of emission-free cheap power and mobility, while generating local jobs in sustainable industries. As Energy Storage Industries Asia Pacific's Managing Director Stuart Parry told 7NEWS Australia, ESI’s manufacturing, installation and maintenance activities are expected to contribute more than $9.2 billion to Queensland’s economy and create 500 jobs over the next 20 years. “ESI is targeting the delivery of 400 megawatts (MW) of energy storage annually from 2029 – enough to power a new city the size of Toowoomba each year. Importantly, key battery components will be sourced and manufactured throughout regional #Queensland, supporting businesses and creating skilled jobs in local communities,” Mr Parry said. Iron flow batteries can provide electricity for up to 14 hours to power stations, energy retailers and commercial and industrial customers when renewable energy isn’t being generated, such as during the night. Have a good think about these decisions made on your behalf by your state representatives in parliament. By all means, if you truly believe renewable energy generation is going to save humanity and is the best way forward for Queensland, then continue with the existing strategy. If you see these strategies as detrimental to the prosperity of the State and detrimental to the environment, then vote for any party but major parties.

Great to hear. However rou have a major problem right now … with Callide C power coal fired station coming back online; QLDs carbon intensity has just kicked up into the wrong direction and fast. What’s the plan for Callide C and coal in general? I hope there is a plan that steps out how this is goikg to be corrected and moved quickly into the right direction, accounting for the forecast for power to produce hydrogen.

Yesterday, we had the privilege of hearing from Professor Paul Simshauser AM, who provided his annual update on the state of Queensland's energy market at the 2024 QUEENSLAND ENERGY MARKET OUTLOOK event hosted by CEDA - Committee for Economic Development of Australia. Professor Paul Simshauser along with Stephen Hinchliffe, Director – Energy Policy, Regulation and Economics at Worley Consulting and Dr Brett Watson, Executive General Manager, Electrification and Automation at Siemens offered valuable insights into the rollout of the Queensland Energy and Jobs Plan, and shared forecasts for 2024. South Australia’s future is looking even brighter. A major new electricity transmission project to power South Australia’s clean energy future and support the State’s Prosperity Project has today been declared actionable by the Australian Energy Market Operator. The project – known as the Green Energy Network – will ensure South Australia can harness the economic benefits of large-scale renewable energy projects, while continuing to safeguard the reliability and security of the State’s power network for households and businesses. Green Energy Network has the potential to play a critical role to make Adelaide’s energy supply more diverse and resilient to extreme weather, particularly bushfires. ElectraNet’s CEO, Simon Emms, said “South Australia is a leader in the energy transition and Green Energy Network aims to unlock transformative economic opportunities through the State Prosperity Project, to create jobs, and to ensure that power is available where and when it is needed.”   ElectraNet will now embark on engagement and consultation with stakeholders and the community and Traditional Owners to ensure the project delivers the maximum benefit for South Australians. Let me translate this new reality for #Queenslanders. As a Queenslander having propped up the #State longer than this guy ever will.. This shall mean (from OUR experience): 1. 80%++ higher energy costs over 12-20yrs. Not less. False ROI, high capex & short service life of #renewables. This is above current out-of-ctrl living & inflation costs. You'll get unreliability, common black outs, imperilment of the elderly, infirm, the vulnerable & business. Then start all over again. Landfill volumes superseded with HIGHLY TOXIC, VOLATILE FLAMMABLE batt & solar waste. Not to mention wind turbine components. Fibre glass breaking down is an irritant, crystalline & a fibrous hazard. You don't want to breath that. Or have it enter Ag/food/water supply chains. NO to the above. At all costs! QLD 𝗥𝗘𝗙𝗨𝗦𝗘𝗗 a recycling or decommissioning plan. 2. #RE 𝙄𝙎 #FF incarnate, hand-in-hand. Entails #ModernSlavery, dependancy & destructive wasteful #mining practises = more emissions/pollution. It does NOT benefit Australia. It hobbles us. 3. Imagine the Premier reaching 2M+ homeless & struggling? 🤣 𝗡𝗢𝗣𝗘. 4. ABSOLUTELY NOT. We dealt with & witnessed a huge post-CV19 socio-economic decline, high crime, heightened vulnerability to disasters, fires, lethal accidents. A grossly-incompetent treasonous Gov is why I stopped investing in QLD after 35+yrs and left !!!
