The 2024 Energy Barometer is out today, highlighting what energy professionals think the policy priorities are for their industry. Commenting, Andy Brown OBE FEI, President of the Energy Institute and Ørsted Deputy Chair said: “Great strides have been made in decarbonising our electricity supplies, but the goal of clean power by 2030 has pushed grid build out, modernisation and access to the top of our members’ concerns.” “Improving energy literacy among parliamentarians, civil servants, media and the public, and facilitating greater interchange between Whitehall and industry, will help build the foundations for a smoother journey to net zero.” Interested to find out more? "By the end of 2023, more than 11,000 energy projects were in interconnection queues in the United States, waiting for a green-light from regional grid operators to proceed with construction. " 🌞🍃🔋 Great map from VC showing how many projects are pending interconnection permits in the US!⚡ #Solar #Wind #BESS #Interconnection #GreenEnergy #RenewableEnergy

Did you know that by the end of 2023, over 11,000 energy projects were waiting in interconnection queues across the United States? Wind projects wait an average of 3.33 years, while solar projects make up over 40% of the queue. Shortening wait times for #renewableenergy projects is crucial for speeding up our move to a low-carbon future!

The DOE has released zero-emissions building definition, part 1 of 3. Part 1 of the definition focuses on operational emissions from energy use, setting criteria to determine whether a building generates zero emissions from energy used in building operations. Parts 2 and 3 will define zero on-site emissions from energy use, involving ensuring that direct greenhouse gas emissions from energy use equal zero; and ensuring that all energy consumed by the building is clean energy obtained through any combination of on- and off-site sources, as long as GHG emissions from that source equal zero. https://ow.ly/j9iY30sEkZT #sustainabledesign #zeroemissions #carbonemissions #emissionsreduction

There are many high valuable interconnection points on the grid from existing power plants to factories, mills, and other industrial plants. Seeing these as an asset versus just an abandoned building has tremendous potential for speeding up projects across the globe. It is important that we can leverage existing infrastructure to make the energy transition, otherwise the speed and cost will not allow us to meet our goals. #energytransition A polluting, coal-fired power plant found the key to solving America’s biggest clean energy challenge: https://lnkd.in/g28HtCZc
