This month, we are excited to spotlight Pavegen, a pioneering UK-based company transforming the way we think about energy generation and urban design.    Innovating with Every Step  Founded in 2009 by Laurence Kemball-Cook, Pavegen has developed an ingenious technology that converts kinetic energy from footsteps into electrical power and data. Their specially designed floor tiles capture the energy produced when people walk on them, creating a renewable energy source right beneath our feet.    How It Works  Each step on a Pavegen tile generates electricity, which can be harnessed to power lights, signage, and other low-power applications. Exciting News from the A9 Via Gateway Thüringen Project!✨ As part of our ongoing commitment to sustainability and innovation, our A9 Via Gateway Thüringen project – a joint venture between Invesis and VINCI Concessions – has introduced a cutting-edge LED lighting system across all rest areas. The intelligent LED system uses smart sensor technology to optimise lighting based on traffic flow and environmental conditions. This means a 40% reduction in energy consumption and CO2 emissions 🚗 ♻️ . We’ve also introduced amber lighting, which has less impact on local ecosystems, protecting plants and animals while keeping our roads safe and well-lit. We recently rolled out our cutting-edge near-home charging solutions across Dundee. 🤩🔌   In collaboration with Dundee City Council we added 18 dual-socket retractable UEone chargepoints to Dundee’s network of charging hubs. These new hubs are strategically located across the city to ensure convenient, accessible, low impact charging options are available for residents, visitors and local businesses.   This infrastructure is designed to offer a scalable solution that can grow with demand, reinforcing our focus on providing innovative, high-quality solutions that meet the evolving needs of communities on their journey toward net-zero. 🌍🌱    Want to know more? 🌱 Did you know… DB opened Europe’s first climate-neutral train station? 🚉 Sustainability is one of the core missions we have at DB International Operations, and it is equally rooted in our parent company DB. In 2014, DB introduced StationGreen in Kerpen-Horrem, setting a new standard for environmentally friendly transportation hubs.
