In December, we balanced 100 tonnes of carbon with the 30 MW Wind Energy Project by Giriraj Enterprises, on behalf of our Carbon Neutral and Net Zero Carbon certificate holders! This windfarm wouldn’t exist without the “Voluntary Carbon Market” ie. Committed businesses and individuals wanting to do what they can to help transition the world off greenhouse gas emitting fossil fuels and onto clean, renewable energy. What’s more, the project is certified as contributing to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, as it’s helping to support local jobs and access to clean energy.

🌿Brazil's Grid Emissions: Among the World's Lowest, Even in the Driest Year 🌍 Globally, there is a clear link between renewable energy share and CO2 emissions from electricity grids: the higher renewable penetration, the lower the emissions. Brazil demonstrates an even more pronounced connection: its renewable share has been consistently between 75% and 94% since 2006, mainly determined by hydro power availability, which translates into emissions between 8 and 40 gCO2/MJ, while 2023’s global average was 133.8 gCO2/MJ. 💧Even during its driest periods, Brazil remains among the top 10 nations with the least carbon-intensive grids, paving the way for sustainable fuel production. 🚀By continuing to expand its renewable energy infrastructure, Brazil will further strengthen its position as a global clean energy leader. The International Day of Clean Energy, observed every 26th day of January, proclaimed by the UN General Assembly (resolution A/77/327) to raise awareness and mobilize action for a just and inclusive transition to clean energy that will both benefited by people and the planet. January 26 also marks the founding anniversary of the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA), a global intergovernmental organization established in 2009. IRENA supports countries in their energy transitions and serves as a platform for international cooperation, offering data, analysis and insights on clean energy technologies, innovation, policies, finance, and investments. Renewable energy is crucial to achieving sustainable development and building climate resilience. Clean energy sources such as solar, wind, and hydropower drive efforts to reduce carbon emissions, enhance energy security, and create green jobs. According to the United Nations, every $1 invested in renewables generates three times more jobs than in the fossil fuel industry. Commit to support clean energy. Let us accelerate the shift to clean energy systems to mitigate climate change and protect future generations. Through this little and simple ways will contribute a lot in creating a positive change in our environment.

Whilst on one hand it's good to see Australia's leading renewable energy state South Australia continually powering ahead along a Clean Energy path as a proud Tasmanian I'm more than a little saddened that we have not continued to leverage the climate transition era by sourcing capital and technology to grow our energy generation. Industry needs more power to expand, we have one of the few green grids in the world and the opportunity to export energy rather than import can only happen with a surplus energy starting point.
