𝗧𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝗪𝗮𝘀𝗻’𝘁 𝗟𝗶𝗸𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗢𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿 𝗙𝗼𝗿𝗺𝗻𝗲𝘅𝘁𝘀 I have attended Formnext - Where ideas take shape every single year for the past 10 years. I am a true fan-boy. More and more lasers doing their dance on powders. Filaments being extruded and deposited in ultra-precision. Parts growing bigger in size and complexity. I love seeing all this new technology. But this year, I couldn't help but notice some subtle but significant differences—particularly on Day 1. For the first time I can remember, there were no long lines at the coffee shops during lunch breaks. It’s a small detail, but telling. It was a slow day 1. The bustling energy seemed muted. Could the overall economic climate be dampening enthusiasm? Did companies restrict business travel? Is the need for a tradeshow visit not as urgent anymore? Is the once-high hype around additive manufacturing settling into something more stable? Don’t get me wrong. I did meet old contacts, friends, and business partners. This remains one of the greatest benefits of attending Formnext. These interactions often spark new projects and ideas For that I am very grateful. But if I’m honest, I missed the electric spirit of past years. The excitement that comes when the industry feels like it’s on the cusp of something transformative. What are your thoughts? We have a winner! 🌟 About a month ago, the first round of our very own #Makeathon, a creative hub of #youngtalents and industry experts, came to a close. With the Makeathon, we are approaching the topic of “innovation” in a completely different way than before. By bringing together a wide range of specialist and academic knowledge and working together to develop innovative ideas, we're solving one of our customers' problems in #parcellogistics. Phase 1 focused on “ideation” - the generation of ideas and development of solutions, which took place under high time pressure. Phase 2 focused on “making”, where the teams implemented their solutions and tested its technical feasibility. At first place came the "SUT-Team" with their "Virtual Line Camera".
