Post 22: ESG Essentials #1 - Environmental resource management and pollution control 🌍 Exploring the "E" in ESG: Pollution Prevention & Resource Efficiency 🌿 For the first part of our ESG Essentials series, we will focus on the E in ESG. The environmental pillar of ESG goes beyond numbers—it’s about making a global impact. According to UNEP, 10% of the world’s population still lives in extreme poverty, while the WHO estimated that in 2012 23% of all deaths are due to environmental causes, with 90% affecting low- to middle-income countries. Pollution prevention and resource efficiency are two essential strategies. By minimizing emissions, improving waste practices, and optimizing resource use, companies can drive positive change that supports healthier communities and ecosystems 🌱. Beyond operational benefits, these actions tackle health inequities and contribute to a sustainable development path for all. Taking action on the "E" in ESG isn’t just about compliance—it's about fostering a healthier, more equitable world 🌎. Through pollution prevention and responsible resource management, companies can help ensure a sustainable, resilient planet for generations to come. Is ESG limited to GHG emissions? #ESG #Learning #AirPollution The answer is a BIG NO. This course on Long-range Transboundary Air Pollution helped me realize that ESG is not limited to Carbon Dioxide (CO2), Methane (CH4) & Chlorofluorocarbons (CFC). Key takeaways from this course are as follows: 🔹 Vital role of international cooperation in addressing air pollution challenges. 🔹 Importance of reducing emissions of harmful air pollutants such as sulfur dioxide (SO2), nitrogen oxides (NOx), volatile organic compounds (VOCs), and particulate matter (PM) to protect human health and the environment. 🔹 Strategies for implementing measures to control transboundary air pollution effectively, including emission reduction targets and regulatory frameworks. 🔹 Significance of monitoring, reporting, and assessing the impacts of air pollution on a global scale, including health effects, environmental degradation, and climate change. 🔹 Insights into the CLRTAP's protocols, including those targeting heavy metals such as mercury (Hg), lead (Pb), and cadmium (Cd), and their impact on national and regional air quality policies. 🔹 Understanding the best practices (BATs and ELVs) for mitigating air pollution and promoting sustainable development, including technological innovations and policy interventions. Thanks to UN CC:Learn for providing this course. Special thanks to our ESG expert Mahima Garg for helping me in each step towards ESG. #AirQuality #Sustainability #CleanAir #EnvironmentalProtection #ClimateAction #GlobalHealth #PublicHealth #CleanEnergy #AirPollutionControl #EmissionReduction #PollutionPrevention #GreenTech #SustainableDevelopment #EnvironmentalPolicy #ClimateChangeMitigation #HealthyPlanet #Certificate #Certified #Certification #Opportunity

🌍💼 Championing a Greener Tomorrow: Towards Resource Efficiency and Pollution Management 🌿💧 In our relentless pursuit of economic growth and urbanization, we often overlook the environmental toll, manifesting in pollution and the depletion of finite resources. These challenges pose threats not only to our immediate surroundings but also to global ecosystem services and climate stability. Yet, amidst these challenges, there lies an opportunity to revolutionize our approach towards a more sustainable future. Our latest article, drawing upon the principles of ESS3, delves into the essence of resource efficiency and pollution prevention and management. It’s a call to action for businesses and communities to embrace more sustainable practices that align with Global Industry International Practices (GIIP) throughout a project's lifecycle. Key objectives include: - Promoting sustainable resource use—energy, water, and materials. - Minimizing adverse health and environmental impacts through pollution prevention. - Reducing emissions of climate pollutants. - Minimizing the generation of hazardous and non-hazardous waste. As we embark on this journey, it's imperative to recognize that sustainable practices are not just a moral obligation but a feasible and accessible choice. By incorporating cleaner production into product design and operation processes, we not only conserve resources but also pave the way for a healthier planet. 🌱✨ More content here: https://lnkd.in/dVztt_kj #ResourceEfficiency #PollutionPrevention #Sustainability #CircularEconomy #ReFi #Society6 #CircularityFinance

"Be a part of the solution, not part of the pollution" encapsulates a powerful call to action for individuals and communities to take responsibility for their impact on the environment. It emphasizes the importance of proactive engagement in sustainable practices rather than contributing to environmental degradation. By choosing to be part of the solution, individuals commit to making conscious decisions that minimize their carbon footprint, reduce waste, and preserve natural resources. This mindset encourages the adoption of eco-friendly habits such as recycling, reducing energy consumption, and supporting environmentally responsible businesses. Moreover, "Be a part of the solution, not part of the pollution" inspires collective action, highlighting the need for collaboration across sectors to address pressing environmental issues. It encourages advocacy for policies and initiatives that promote renewable energy, conservation efforts, and pollution control measures. Ultimately, embracing this mantra fosters a culture of environmental stewardship, where individuals recognize their role in protecting the planet for future generations. By prioritizing sustainability and taking proactive steps to mitigate pollution, we can create a cleaner, healthier, and more sustainable world for all. Let's heed the call and become agents of positive change in our communities and beyond. #CleanAirNow #BeatPlasticPollution #GreenLiving #SustainableFuture #ZeroWaste #PollutionFree #EcoFriendly #RenewableRevolution #SaveOurOceans #CarbonFootprintAwareness #AirQualityMatters #PlasticFreePlanet #CleanWaterForAll #GoGreen #ProtectTheEarth

What's worse than pollution? Not knowing where it's coming from. ESG ain't just about feeling good. It's about knowing the source of your company's impact. Emissions are like a leaky pipe. You have to pinpoint the leak before fixing it. That's what Scopes 1, 2, and 3 emissions talk about: Scope 1: The pollution you make on-site (think factories, company cars). Scope 2: Pollution from the energy you buy (like grid electricity). Scope 3: The tricky one – pollution from your whole supply chain. Why does this matter? Because you can't fix what you don't measure. We can either pretend that our messy room is clean Or choose to tackle the source of the problem. ESG is about tackling the source. It's the brave choice, and the smart one. #ESG #sustainability #climateaction #circulareconomy #climatechnage #pollution #mspl #minimacsystems

Pollution - Waste or Resource? Pollution is one of the biggest challenges we face as a society. It damages our environment, harms our health, and contributes to climate change. However, what if we could shift our perspective and see pollution not as a waste but as a resource? This is where the concept of resource recovery and the circular economy comes into play. Traditionally, pollution has been viewed as a negative externality that needs to be controlled and eliminated. However, the circular economy approach views waste as a potential resource that can be recovered and reused. In this way, pollution can be seen as an opportunity to create new products and services, rather than a problem to be solved. Pollution should not be considered a waste, but rather as a resource that can be recovered and reused. Resource recovery and the circular economy offer a new perspective on how we can tackle the challenges of pollution and create a more sustainable future. By embracing this approach, we can create new opportunities for innovation and economic growth, while also reducing our impact on the environment.
