Last year, CISSAJK achieved significant milestones, including: 🔹 Launching the Strategic Outreach Program, expanding our engagement and fostering meaningful collaborations. 🔹 Receiving overwhelming responses to our Strategic Forecast, with thought-provoking articles from esteemed contributors. 🔹 A successful International Outreach led by our Executive Director, Dr. Asma Shakir Khawja, who represented CISSAJK in Germany. 🔹 Signing an MoU with the Kashmir Committe (Parliament), strengthening ties for collaborative research and dialogue. 🔹 Hosting numerous in-house discussions, webinars, and seminars and to address pressing issues. 🔹 Active media participation to shape public discourse on critical topics. 🔹Publication of two issues of our journal Strategic Perspectives 🔹 Publication of CISSAJK team research papers in HEC-recognized journals, contributing valuable insights to academia. The underrepresentation of Southern researchers in academic journals and conferences impacts the global development research and policy agenda. Initiatives that address the skewed composition of editorial boards, the barriers faced by Southern researchers in attending conferences, and that support international research collaborations are needed. How to effectively communicate science? And what is science communication for you? One answer might be: science communication is a multifaceted endeavour that bridges the gap between the scientific community and the public. It involves translating complex scientific concepts into accessible and engaging narratives, fostering dialogue, and cultivating a deeper understanding of the scientific process. The “WissKomm Kolleg” (SciComm college), a new science communication initiative in Germany currently explores above questions. Our scicommer Daniel Hölle recently attended the first of two physical events near the Baltic Sea. Together with science journalists, institutional communicators und scientists, Daniel engaged in intensive discussions, reflecting on their roles, responsibilities and practices. After the Kolleg, Daniel reflected on the discussions and initiated conversations with us. We talked (and still talk) about the extent to which the discussions on science communication in Germany can also be transferred to Europe. The "Kolleg" is organised by the Alfred Toepfer Stiftung and Claussen-Simon-Stiftung, in collaboration with other scicom initiatives and companies. We are curious about how this journey for Daniel continues and what new questions he will bring back to us. #ScienceCommunication #WissKomm

An Abstract Submitting and Managing is an online platform that is used to organize conferences. It allows authors to submit their brief summaries of their research, which they want to present at the conference, as well as receive feedback from organizers and experts. It also helps conference organizers select and distribute abstracts by sections and sessions, as well as manage all aspects of preparing and conducting the conference. An Abstract Submitting and Managing system is needed to facilitate the process of submitting, managing and checking abstracts, as well as to improve the quality and significance of scientific papers that will be presented at the conference. Our final KEYNOTE speaker for #misdoom24 has been announced: It's Prof. Walter Quattrociocchi from Sapienza University of Rome! Prof. Quattrociocchi is co-author of seminal papers like 'The spreading of misinformation online' or 'The COVID-19 social media infodemic', and is one of the world's leading researchers in disinformation. This one will be a (live) remote keynote, but Prof. Quattrociocchi will be available for questions, too.
