🏅A Surreal Landscape View A unique lunar, rock covered landscape, quite unlike other regions in Turkey amazes everyone seeing it for the first time. Millions of years ago, three now dormant volcanoes spewed lava across the area and over time, it harden. 🏅Hot Air Balloon Rides Ascending early in the morning, just after sunset and a Turkish style buffet breakfast, passengers have an impressive birds-eye-view of the famous lunar landscape, small towns, and valleys. If money is no object, book your own balloon, otherwise, most companies accommodate 6 to 15 people in a basket. 🏅Cave Hotels and Four Towns to Choose From Thousands of years ago, resourceful locals also noticed they could quickly chisel the tufa rock left behind by the volcanoes. They carved caves out of it that kept them warm in winter and cool in summer. As tourism engulfed Cappadocia, the traditional cave homes turned into cave hotels. These days, technology and design trends have enabled hotel owners to offer an authentic experience of staying in a cave hotel but with all modern cons such as hot water, TV, satellite, and of course the Internet. 🏅Cave Churches Historically, Cappadocia was one of the first places to embrace Christianity. As well as using the landscape rocks to build cave homes, locals created churches of which these days, the Goreme Open Air Museum is home to some of the best. Dating from mainly the 11th and 12th centuries, the exterior architecture of the cave churches gains little admiration, but the interior biblical frescoes adorning the ceilings are perfect pieces of ancient art. 🏅Underground Cities Possibly one of the most unusual reasons to visit Cappadocia is that it is not only a fairy-tale kingdom above the surface but also underneath as well. Hundreds of ancient underground cities have been discovered of which the biggest is Derinkuyu that housed a staggering 20,000 people. ☎️ +90 256 613 04 23 ✉️ info@eostravel.com.tr #worldawaitsyou #dreamit #travel #nature #photography #travelphotography #love #photooftheday #instagood #travelgram #picoftheday #instagram #beautiful #photo #wanderlust #naturephotography

Spruce Tree House in Mesa Verde National Park is one of those magical places that quietly boasts its historical grandeur. Located within Colorado's vast landscapes, Spruce Tree House is the third largest cliff dwelling in Mesa Verde National Park. It's a marvel, with about 130 rooms and 8 kivas, which are ceremonial structures. These ancient rooms, once bustling with life, date back to the 1200s, built by the ancestral Puebloans. Imagine, centuries ago, this place was a thriving community, a testament to the ingenuity and resilience of its builders. The beauty of the Spruce Tree House is something that genuinely captivates the soul. As a photographer, I've had the privilege of witnessing many splendid sights, but this one, it's different. It’s as if the very stones whisper tales of the past. The way the sunlight dances through the canyon, casting shadows that play along the ancient walls, it’s like watching a delicate ballet of light and time. Each room, each crack in the wall holds a story, a fragment of a life once lived with such vigor. What's truly awe-inspiring is how the structure blends seamlessly with the natural alcove it occupies. It's a symbiotic relationship between nature and human craftsmanship. The alcove provided shelter, protection, and a vantage point that must have been crucial for the inhabitants. And in return, they honored this gift of nature by creating a structure that complements its surroundings rather than overpowering it. The Spruce Tree House, with its silent walls and empty kivas, still stands strong, resilient against the test of time. It's a monument not just to the past but to the enduring spirit of humanity's desire to harmonize with nature. Each stone, meticulously placed by hands long gone, tells a story of survival, community, and the timeless dialogue between humans and their environment. Order now to bring the spirit of Mesa Verde into your home: https://etsy.me/4hhpODA - #ImagesByCheri #history #photography #nature #art #travel #landscape #heritage

Ever felt like stepping into a painting? The Apuseni Mountains in autumn are exactly that—a surreal landscape of blazing colors and mist-shrouded hills, where nature’s palette seems endless. Among these peaks and valleys lie the “Fanetele din Apuseni”—the mountain meadows where barn roofs peek out from golden pastures, and weathered fences twist and turn like old folklore stories. These meadows and hillsides transform in the fall, offering a tapestry of amber, crimson, and rust that feels timeless and untouched. The Apuseni Mountains are a haven of biodiversity, home to around 150 species of plants, including rare alpine flora that thrive in these pristine conditions. Scattered across the rolling terrain are historic barns, or “suri,” many still in use by local farmers. These storied structures, with their sloping, thatched roofs, add a rustic charm to the landscape, evoking the way life has quietly unfolded here for centuries. Often cloaked in morning mist, the old wooden fences—built without nails—speak to the craftsmanship and traditions passed down through generations. It’s the quiet details that make autumn in Apuseni so enchanting: the distant sound of a cowbell, a rooster crowing from an unseen farmhouse, or the crisp, earthy scent of fallen leaves and damp wood. Each turn of the path feels like stepping deeper into a different world, where modernity has no place. So, if you could wander here, which path would you take first: the winding trails through the forest or the open meadows with views stretching to the horizon? The Colors of San Miguel: El Jardin Principal This image of El Jardín Principal in San Miguel de Allende is a window into the town’s enchanting charm and the gentle hum of daily life. The iconic arched colonnade, with its weathered Cantera stone, invites you to step back in time. Its earthy hues—reds, yellows, and browns—glow softly in the diffused daylight while hanging vines and lanterns overhead whisper of San Miguel's timeless romance. In the foreground, life unfolds quietly. A man walks his small, sweater-clad dogs, their colorful attire adding a splash of personality to the historic setting. Nearby, another figure sweeps the well-worn stone pavers, a task as unhurried and rhythmic as the town itself. Beyond the arches, the lush laurel trees of El Jardín form a serene green backdrop, perfectly framed by the orange walls of the square. It’s a place where the old and the new coexist effortlessly—where modern life slows down to match the pace of history. Every detail speaks to San Miguel’s essence: a town where beauty resides not just in grand facades but in these quiet, human moments under a canopy of colonial elegance.
