Bass Harbor Head Light Acadia National Park Maine Visiting Bass Harbor Head Light, located on the southwestern tip of Mount Desert Island in Acadia National Park, is a must for anyone exploring the beauty of Maine’s coast. The lighthouse, built in 1858, stands as a beacon over the rugged shoreline, offering visitors a stunning view of the Atlantic Ocean, rocky cliffs, and dense forest. The light itself, with its red trim and white tower, is a striking contrast against the natural surroundings, making it a perfect spot for photography, especially during the golden hour when the sun casts warm hues across the scene. Photographers will find plenty of opportunities to capture the lighthouse from different angles, whether it’s from the nearby cliffs, the rocky shore, or the small access road that leads to the lighthouse itself. The late afternoon light, particularly during sunset, can be magical as it illuminates the lighthouse against the backdrop of a dramatic sky.
