For people across America, our flag is a reminder of our Nation’s founding principle. It stands for the sacred idea that we are all created equal and deserve to be treated equally throughout our lives. Our flag is also a reminder of our shared calling: to stand for the ideals our country was founded on — democracy, freedom, and justice for all. On Flag Day and during National Flag Week, we take pride in the promise and purpose represented by our Nation’s flag. Our country’s flag was created in 1777, when America was still a new idea. Americans flew it at their homes during the Revolutionary War as brave troops fought for our country’s independence from British rule — representing the resolve and resilience of our Nation’s 13 colonies with 13 stripes and stars. As our Nation evolved, so too did our flag — with every new star added to Old Glory, we were reminded that the work of forging a more perfect Union never ends. SOURCE: White House

From the Dec 7, 1941 attack on Pearl Harbor until the US-Japan Security Treaty of September 1951 we went from fierce enemies to strong Allies in just 10 years...occasionally US foreign policy and international security relations gets something right 🇺🇸 🇯🇵 https://lnkd.in/enZ2eJux "...the surprise attack on Pearl Harbor on December 7, 1941, which heavily damaged the US naval base...opening the Pacific theater of World War II. The United States made a massive investment in naval power and systematically destroyed Japan's offensive capabilities while island hopping across the Pacific. To force a surrender, the Americans systematically bombed Japanese cities, culminating in the atomic bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki in August 1945. Japan surrendered, and was subjected to seven years of military occupation by the United States, during which the Americans under General Douglas MacArthur eliminated militarism and rebuilt the country's economic and political systems to transform Japan into a democracy. In the 1950s and 1960s Japan entered into a military alliance with the United States, and experienced unprecedented economic growth by sheltering under the U.S. nuclear umbrella, taking full advantage of U.S.-backed free trade schemes, and supplying American wars in Korea and Vietnam. Japanese exports to the United States dramatically expanded in the postwar period, with Japanese automobiles and consumer electronics being especially popular, and Japan became the world's second largest economy after the United States (in 2010 it dropped to third place after China). From the late 20th century and onwards, the United States and Japan have had firm and active political, economic and military relationships. US government officials generally consider Japan to be one of its closest allies and partners. Most Americans generally perceive Japan positively, with 84% viewing Japan favorably in 2021; however, few Americans consider Japan one of their closest allies in public opinion polls, with only 1% of Americans picking Japan as their most important foreign policy partners, far behind other key American allies, according to a 2021 Pew survey. In a New York Times analysis of YouGov data in 2017, American survey respondents ranked Japan as their 21st closest ally, also behind other key American allies. Japan is currently one of the most pro-American countries in the world, with 67% of Japanese viewing the United States favorably, according to a 2018 Pew survey; and 75% saying they trust the United States as opposed to 7% for China. In a 2019 Pew survey, 63% of people in Japan named the United States their closest ally, far higher than any other country named by Japanese respondents."
On this #NationalPearlHarborRemembranceDay, we reflect on the attack 83 years ago that changed the course of history and we remember the service, bravery and most importantly, the sacrifice of all who defended our nation’s freedom. #VFWSalute

In defining Project 2025 in my most recent post, I shared a video that discussed the merging of autocratic and undemocratic interests based on extreme ideologies that go against the basic principles that shaped this country such as separation of church and state, individualism, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. This podcast picks up from those themes as it features Elizabeth Neumann, a Christian evangelical herself and former Assistant Secretary for counterterrorism and threat prevention for the U.S. Department of Homeland Security under President Trump. She is the author of the book “Kingdom of Rage: The Rise of Christian Extremism and the Path Back to Peace” which examines the rise in domestic terrorism and the underlying psychosocial factors contributing to it while deconstructing the politics within the Christian Evangelical religion which intersects with racism and white supremacy, patriarchy and mysogony, homophobia and transphobia. The discussion in this podcast analyzes the normalization of a grievance narrative and its ties to white nationalism, Christian religious extremism, spiritual warfare, and a kind of Christian religious narcissism.

August 22: A Day of Historic Firsts, Survival, and Strikes Across the Ages. This day has witnessed remarkable milestones and dramatic events, shaping the course of history. From the first America's Cup race in 1851 to the founding of Cadillac Motor Company in 1902, and Nolan Ryan's record-breaking 5,000th strikeout in 1989, innovation and achievement have defined this day. Meanwhile, the adoption of the First Geneva Convention in 1864 set a crucial precedent for humanitarian law, and French President Charles de Gaulle's narrow escape from assassination in 1962 marked a turning point in his presidency. However, tragedy also struck on this day, as seen in the devastating 2004 bombings in Iraq. August 22 stands as a testament to human perseverance, progress, and the complexities of our shared history. #August22 #HistoricEvents #AmericasCup #CadillacMotorCompany #GenevaConvention #HumanitarianLaw #NolanRyan #5000Strikeouts #CharlesdeGaulle #AssassinationAttempt #IraqBombings #HumanHistory #Milestones #Innovation #HumanPerseverance #Progress #GlobalHistory #HistoricalFirsts #Survival #SharedHistory

Finally they removed that black monument to fascist collaborationists, however in people mind that type of "heroism" created a very strong myth of Ukraine sovereignty which led to the destruction of a solid economy and prosperity of Ukraine in 1980th and eventually to the civil war among Slavic people. Big money and war are two sides of the same coin of profit . From my.personal experience. After graduation from university in Siberia I got my first teaching assistant job in 1986 in the university of Zaporigze ( Soviet Republic of Ukraine at the time). The level of living in Ukrainian was astonishing compared to the level of living in Siberia. Statistics shows that In soviet time they have one of the best levels of living in Europe - free education, free medicine, advanced science , variety of industries, agricultural products with no GMO, but no gas and oil. Now they call that time "soviet occupation", it is such an irony. After claiming independence from Russia "free market" and western investments brought only destruction of all industries, the level of poverty is growing all 30 years, devastation to people's lives. And all of that accommodating the strongest brain washing machine of lies based on lies and multiply by more lies .

Rubric: Glimpses of Reason. In #Canada, a memorial to the first Ukrainian SS division "Galicia" was demolished ▪️ The monument was installed in a cemetery in the town of Oakville in 1988. From the time it was installed to this day, many activists have demanded its removal. It has been a popular target of vandalism. ▪️ The monument near Toronto has been called a "disgrace" many times. The Toronto Star, a Canadian publication, wrote in 2023 that it was a "spitting image on the graves of Canadian veterans." Hopefully #Trudeau, another protege of the globalist oligarchy will fall soon. And Canadians will elect a normal leader. #history #commonsense #justice
