We just found out that our work is starting to reach the Norwegian parliament. In the recent recommendation from the Transport and Communications Committee on appropriations in the Norwegian state budget for 2025, Ocean Industries Concept Lab and #openbridge are specifically mentioned (translated from Norwegian): The committee members from the Conservative Party (Høyre) note in this context that companies associated with the (innovation) catapults and the research group Ocean Industries Concept Lab at AHO contribute to safer, more sustainable, and more efficient maritime coastal shipping through the OpenBridge design framework. It is fantastic to see that our work is noticed in the higher offices of Norway. And we have more to share soon. Excited to share some of these ideas at a retreat for the UN Peacebuilding ecosystem outside New York over the next two days. The aim is to improve the relevance and impact of the PBC. We propose that this can be achieved through the changes recommended in this input paper to the working methods of the Peacebuilding Commission and the other parts of the Architecture, namely: - Improve the quality of information and analysis, - Enhance learning and adaptation, and - Improving synergy between PBC, PBF & PBSO

How can the impact of the Peacebuilding Commission be improved, and how can the synergy of the Peacebuilding Architecture be enhanced? In this input paper for the 2025 Review of the United Nations Peacebuilding Architecture, NUPI researchers Cedric de Coning, Ingvild Brox Brodtkorb, Thor Olav Iversen and Jenny Lorentzen make recommendations in four areas: (1) maintaining strategic focus on addressing the underlying drivers and causes of conflict, (2) enhancing the quality of information and analysis generated by the Peacebuilding Architecture, (3) strengthening synergy and coherence across the UN system and within the global peacebuilding and development ecosystem, and (4) stimulating UN system learning and adaptation.
