The Black Friday sale took over the internet. Me and my friend did a video call for almost 2 hours just to discuss what all we can buy and exchange. This indicates that the concept of Black Friday weekends is getting bigger and better every passing year. This time, it was the best thing that happened to top retailers and brands. Brands almost experienced a 60 to 80% increase in sales, more than big shopping periods like Republic Day or Independence Day. My Instagram was all about the Black Friday sale. From stories to reels, everything I opened acted as a reminder to just shop, which I did too. It’s crazy how these sales tap into FOMO (fear of missing out). The limited-time offers, constant ads, and everyone around talking about deals made it impossible to not shop. It feels like a psychological game where you just don’t want to miss out on the “best deal.” Times are changing, and people are going crazy for these deals. 𝐖𝐡𝐞𝐧 𝐈 𝐰𝐚𝐬 [𝟐𝟓] Upgraded to the latest smartphone during a flash sale Didn’t need it, but hey, 𝒍𝒊𝒎𝒊𝒕𝒆𝒅 𝒕𝒊𝒎𝒆 𝒐𝒇𝒇𝒆𝒓! Ended up using it just like my old one—texting and scrolling memes. Lesson: A deal isn’t a deal if it doesn’t solve a problem or add real value. But as consumers in #Canada (and globally), have you ever paused to question: Are these discounts truly as incredible as they seem? Take this example: A TV listed for $799 in October is suddenly 'marked down' to $749 during Black Friday—except the original price was artificially inflated to $1,099 just days before the sale. Sound familiar? Or how about the popular smartphone "deals" where you're forced to buy unnecessary accessories in a bundle, making the overall price higher than if you bought the phone alone a month earlier?
