Excited to share my latest article on Medium: 'Disabled and Disneybound: Making Core Memories Without Anxiety Disrupting Your Day' As one of the 1.3 billion people worldwide living with a disability, I've poured my heart and personal experiences into this comprehensive guide. It's the result of months of research, interviews, and firsthand experiences at Disney parks. This piece isn't just a travel guide—it's a testament to the importance of accessible tourism and the magic that can happen when entertainment giants prioritize inclusivity. From navigating airports with the Sunflower Program to utilizing Disney's Disability Access Service, I've covered it all. Whether you're disabled, know someone who is, or simply care about inclusive travel, this article offers valuable insights and practical tips. It's my sincere hope that this piece will inspire more people with disabilities to create their own magical memories, and encourage the travel industry to continue improving accessibility. I'd be grateful if you could read, share, and let me know your thoughts. Let's keep the conversation about accessible travel going! #DisabledTravel #DisneyForAll #AccessibleTourism #InclusiveTravel

One of the most impactful lessons I've learned in supporting consumers with disabilities is the power of holistic care. By focusing on the whole person and their family, we can enable individuals to function at their best and ensure they share equal opportunities with their peers. This approach not only empowers those we support but also enriches their lives and the lives of those around them. If you're interested in learning how this approach can assist you or someone you know in thriving, feel free to reach out via DM. Together, we can unlock your full potential 💜🥰

#SummerReading When Driving Is Not An Option by Anna Zivarts A worthwhile read to understand the scale and multiple dimensions of the barriers for people who don't drive in places where car dependency is assumed. A third of the population don't drive - due to disability, youth, immigration status, age, poverty or choice. The impact of difficult or denied access, and even social isolation as people age in car-reliant neighbourhoods, can be dire. Anna proposes a range of solutions for planners, transport officials and politicians. Although in Australia we're better off than in the US, there are lessons well worth considering. In particular I liked that Anna started the "Week Without Driving Challenge" with Disability Rights Washington and now, in partnership with America Walks. In October 2024 over 700 elected and public officials across 43 states participated. What a great way to give decision makers some perspective on what it can be like for a third of their transport systems' customers. The next one starts 29 September 2025 - who's in? https://lnkd.in/gjiuFQYk https://lnkd.in/g7fdNBw5
