This #PrideMonth, remember: Tolerating intolerance is hateful. For any trait, fluidity, tolerance and authentic #allyship are the epitome of Humanity. The more courageous integrity you can muster to stay true to your #PersonalIdentity, the more likely you are to reach your full potential and become a #deilightful being. Thus the more oppression you will face from those #dreadful beings who gave up all those things long ago. This system defines the very meaning of life, builds our individual personas, correlates our impact and legacy, and gives rise to #choice as a scientific construct.
We tasked the #ChangeEngine to research and explain what’s really going on this #PrideMonth, and devise three simple ways anyone could easily make it more meaningful. SJSU School of Information faculty, Dr. Michele Angeline V. and Dr. Darra Hofman, recently published a study about LGBTQ+ students’ library privacy in the COVID-19 pandemic. Per their study, "Utilizing a multi-method, multidisciplinary approach, we conducted a study to examine the information and privacy risks imposed upon or heightened for LGBTQ+ university students by COVID-19, with a focus on the roles of libraries and librarians." Fantastic piece on #braindrain from the wonderful Drew Dalton. Our own research at Open for Business shows that #LGBTQ+ people (and non LGBTQ+ people too) will leave countries with oppressive laws, often going to countries with less oppressive laws. Pretty obvious when you think about it, and yet losing young people at the start of their careers can have a huge economic impact on countries that are often simaltaneously dedicating huge amounts of time and effort to improving their economy.
