Lung disease affects a staggering number of Americans. About 10 million adults are diagnosed with chronic bronchitis each year, and about 4.7 million others have ever been diagnosed with emphysema. Chronic bronchitis and emphysema constitute the diseases that make up Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD). About 25 million people live with asthma as well. Occupational lung diseases, which include asbestosis and mesothelioma, also affect many Americans. One of the common complications of sclero- derma is gastrointestinal involvement, par- ticularly gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD). GERD symptoms in patients with scleroderma can be more severe and persis- tent than in the general population. It occurs when stomach acid frequently flows back into the tube connecting your mouth and stomach (esophagus). This back- wash (acid reflux) can irritate the lining of your esophagus. #sclerodermaindia #scleroderma #chronicillness #autoimmune #systemicsclerosis #GERD

Despite being the 3rd leading cause of death globally, Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) remains significantly under diagnosed. Between 65–80% of people who have #COPD are undiagnosed. Regular lung function testing is crucial to detect early signs of lung diseases such as COPD. It is crucial that symptoms are not dismissed because the sooner COPD is detected, the sooner it can be effectively managed. As part of the Speak Up for COPD Coalition, we are committed to advocating for a greater understanding of this condition and its impact on patients. It’s PBC Awareness Day. There are over 100 types of liver disease, PBC is one of them. Primary biliary cholangitis (PBC) mostly affects women and usually appears in middle age. It’s a chronic disease that slowly destroys the bile ducts in your liver. Symptoms may be overlooked in early stages, though some common ones are extreme fatigue and itching. While there are some treatments to slow the progression, there is no cure. Learn more about PBC here: https://liver.fyi/PBC

Asthma is one of the most common, chronic, non-communicable diseases in the world. People with asthma are at risk of severe exacerbations regardless of disease severity or level of control. I’m proud to work for a company dedicated to eliminating preventable asthma attacks and improving outcomes for people living with this often debilitating and life-changing disease. #TransformingRespiratoryCare https://lnkd.in/etjHAByb
