A commonly used basic indicator in acid-base titration is phenolphthalein. Characteristics of Phenolphthalein: Color Change: It is colorless in acidic solutions and turns pink in basic solutions. pH Range: Phenolphthalein changes color in the pH range of approximately 8.2 to 10. Usage: Since it changes color in the basic range, phenolphthalein is ideal for titrations where a strong base is titrated against a weak acid, or when a strong acid is titrated with a strong base.
