New project (EUPHRESCO III), new staff, new ways to inform people about the importance of plant health in meeting the UN sustainable goals and to coordinate successful transnational research activities. Success stories go animated! We are pleased to start the new series of succes stories with the #Euphresco project 2020-C-353 'Basic substances as an environmentally friendly alternative to synthetic pesticides for plant protection (BasicS)'. In the last decade, there has been an increasing drive towards new and innovative low-hazard plant protection products (PPPs) providing nature-based solutions, such as basic substances (e.g., vinegar, charcoal). This has further been promoted by the EU Green Deal’s Farm to Fork strategy to reduce the use of chemical and more hazardous PPPs and promoting more sustainable agricultural systems. The BasicS project allowed the partner organizations to share knowledge and skills related to the development of basic substances. 📣 Last month, the European Roundtable for Beef Sustainability (ERBS) hosted their annual event in Poznan, Poland where members and partners came together to collaborate and share knowledge to help drive positive sustainability progress in the European beef industry. Some key highlights from the event: 🎯 2 days of collaboration 🎯 57 attendees from 28 companies across 10 European countries 🎯 24 expert speakers covered a range of perspectives including farmer, science, financial, policy and business and 6 European Platforms presented on their successes, opportunities/challenges and future plans. 🎯 2 farm visits to OSI McDonald’s flagship farm and ABP trial farm 🎯 1 film premier of World Without Cows , a Planet of Plenty® production by Alltech 🎯 3 panel discussions focused on: - Progress on GHG also relies on making progress on nature topics such as biodiversity - Taking a whole value chain approach is the way to accelerate progress on GHG action - Reaction to the World Without Cows film   🤝 Throughout the event, 3 words were echoed “Communication. Motivation. At the Synthetic Turf Council (STC) Annual Conference 2024, held in Phenix on 28-30 October, Stefan Diderich (Director General/ CEO of ESTC (EMEA Synthetic Turf Council) ) highlighted how the synthetic turf industry can proactively embrace sustainability through the Product Environmental Footprint (#PEF). V., brings material innovation and sustainability onto the pitch with: THE JERSEY ⚽️     OceanSafe is honored that the Jersey uses naNea, our Cradle to Cradle Certified Gold biodegradable polyester material. The Jersey was developed in collaboration with runamics GmbH and HAKRO GmbH.   FC Internationale Berlin is not a typical amateur football club. Since its foundation in 1980, the club has been a frontrunner to fight racism and discrimination. Inter has been a role model for many integration, inclusion and sustainability initiatives in local sports.    With the EURO Cup currently being hosted in Germany and excitement filling the streets, there is a surge in the visibility and consumption of football jerseys, which traditionally use conventional polyester. IMOCA GREEN SAIL | Recently accredited with the IMOCA GREEN SAIL qualification, Doyle Sails are pleased to have not only passed but exceeded expectations when meeting the class rule. In 2022, the IMOCA class introduced the green sail rule as part of a sequence of rules to limit and reduce the environmental impact of sails within the class which includes thorough analysis of materials, manufacturing processes and transportation of the sails. Doyle Sails Sustainability Manager, Harri Wren commented, "Our sail not only passed the Green Sails rule, but easily surpassed the threshold set by IMOCA.
