As a consulting company that promotes gender equality and social justice, we are dedicated to promoting positive change to create a safe and equitable world. As the UN Secretary-General stated: "The epidemic of violence against women and girls shames humanity. No country or community is unaffected, and the situation is worsening. As we reflect on the recently completed 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence, we are reminded of the collective responsibility we all share in fostering a world where women and girls can live free from violence and discrimination. India, as an adoptee of the Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action, continues its commitment to advancing women’s rights and gender equality. While the 16 days may have ended, the work to eliminate gender-based violence in all its forms remains critical. The recent post by Saima Wazed, World Health Organization (WHO) Regional Director for South-East Asia, highlights the need for urgent action. What are your thoughts on this and what moves are you making to end gender-based violence? Gender Justice and Human Rights issues comprise both males and females, however, we have paid so much attention to women and girls, and this is for many obvious reasons that women and girls are on the receiving end and bear the brunt of societal ills that leverage on patriarchial nature of the African society. In as much as that has been the case, we are not neglecting the men, the boys whose cultural norms and stereotypes have enabled them to become perpetrators of all forms of gender-based violence. We are also considering them as victims of violence and circumstances 😢 hearing some of their stories both told and untold, you will suddenly realise that they also face gender-based violence in a different subtle way. OSAI FOUNDATION We have a corner called Gent's Corner, where the boys are groomed to understand that they are humans and can cry and pour out and express emotions in a normal way not through their fists or feet or frame. We seek partnerships with other NGOs and INGOs. Let us reach out to this future agent of change. We call out to every young boy and man out there to feel free to reach out, share your stories, be the change, and educate others. Legal frameworks are everywhere pointing out laws that protect, and promote human rights and prosecute perpetrators. The searchlight is on. Don't be a victim of circumstance. Happy International Boy Child Day. We recognise your strengths and weaknesses. We reckon with your efforts to ensure a safe space for all. Happy International Day of the Boy! On this International Day of the Boy, OSAI Foundation isn't just celebrating our boys, we're celebrating changemakers! Through our innovative Gents Corner initiative, we're empowering boys to be part of the solution in the fight for gender justice. Here is why Gents Corner matters: Engaging young minds: We create a safe space for boys to share their stories, experiences, and perspectives on gender equality. Justice for all: We provide support and guidance to boys who may have faced gender-based violence (GBV) or know someone who has. Building a better future: We equip boys with the knowledge and tools to become champions of change, actively working to prevent GBV in their communities. Because real change starts with a conversation. At OSAI Foundation, we believe boys have a critical role to play in creating a world free from gender-based violence. By working together, we can build a future where everyone feels safe, respected, and empowered. #InternationalDayoftheBoy #GentsCorner #EndGBV #TogetherWeCan #OSAIFoundation
