What is the NRGCOM project? 🌱 The NRGCOM project encompassing 13 partner organisations from 12 countries aims to enhance the spread of energy communities by creating appropriate environment for their proper functioning in the Danube Region. The Danube Region relies heavily on imported, fossil fuels, raising environmental, efficiency, and security concerns. The project aims to provide a suitable environment🌿and informed society 👥where community renewable energy initiatives can be launched and expand unhindered, thereby facilitating the green transition and increasing energy efficiency 🔋, contributing to the achievement of decarbonization climate targets and enhancing energy security. The NRGCOM project is supported by the Interreg Danube Region Programme, co-financed by the European Union and the Hungarian State. For more content and information, follow us! What does the ideal path look like for the CASE countries -- #Indonesia #Philippines #Thailand and #Vietnam -- to achieve climate goals while meeting surging energy demands and advancing their economies? 📙 Our new research brief, titled "Navigating the Transition to Net-zero Emissions in Southeast Asia - Energy Security, the Role of Gaseous Energy Carriers and Renewables-based Electrification", suggests that prioritizing renewable energy expansion and electrification across sectors are key. 👉 What did we do? We analysed net-zero pathways time for the CASE countries under two different scenarios: one centred on reducing fossil fuel use through electrification and the other using renewable gases such as hydrogen. 🔍 What did we find? 1) Rapidly scaling up renewable infrastructure to replace fossil gas can lead to long-term economic security, as fossil reserves are dwindling and renewables, particularly solar, have become more affordable. 2) Electrifying energy end-use, such as switching to electric vehicles or heat pumps in industrial processes, is more efficient than relying on hydrogen. 3) The integration of energy supply, storage and end-users is vital for a reliable and affordable clean energy future. 💻 To watch the webinar: https://lnkd.in/gUkdUysw 📚 To read the report: https://lnkd.in/gETZPmpm #netzero #renewables #electrification #CASEforSEA #energytransistion #southeastasia #naturalgas NewClimate Institute GIZ Thailand Agora Energiewende

The cost is a huge barrier to change; technology is there as it exist to use renewable energy sources but it is not 100% and so for renewable energy technologies to become easily available, they need the funding, investment and support. It is an investment for the future if we are to transition to renewable energy sources. #asean #energytransition #innovation #technologies #climatetech #investingforthefuture #fundingthefuture #renewableenergy #renewablesindustry

We are proud to introduce Equinor as one of the key participants at the 3rd Europe CCUS & #Hydrogen Decarbonisation Summit! Equinor is an international energy company committed to long-term value creation in a low-carbon future. Their purpose is to turn natural resources into energy for people and progress for society. Equinor’s portfolio of projects encompasses oil and gas, renewables and low-carbon solutions, with an ambition of becoming a net-zero energy company by 2050. Equinor has stored CO2 on the Norwegian Continental Shelf for nearly 30 years on the Sleipner and Snøhvit fields. This, combined with a 50 year history of being an oil and gas company means that Equinor has the expertise and competence to develop large scale #CO2 transport and storage solutions. Equinor, together with Shell and TotalEnergies is one of three owners of the Northern Lights Joint Venture – the world’s first full scale CO2 value chain. Northern Lights will be ready to receive CO2 later this year. This marks the first step on their road to our CCS ambitions of 30-50 million tons per annum of CO2 transport and storage capacity. The following steps will be the Northern Endurance Partnership offshore UK, that Equinor is developing together with BP and TotalEnergies, and their CO2 Highway Europe, a large scale pipeline connecting Continental Europe to the Norwegian Continental Shelf. At the Capital Market Update earlier this year, Equinor stood firm on their ambitions of delivering 15-40 TWh of decarbonized energy in the form of abated power and low carbon hydrogen. This will be achieved through projects targeting North West Europe, UK and the US. Projects include Net Zero Teesside, together with BP, which aims to deliver the Teesside industrial area with abated dispatchable power by 2029, and H2M Eemshaven a 1GW blue hydrogen project that entered FEED earlier this year. Join us Tuesday 8th & Wednesday 9th October 2024 at the Brussels Marriott Hotel Grand Place to hear from Grete Tveit of Equinor, who will be presenting on Day 1, Session 2: Projects in #CCS and #CCUS at 14:20.
