Serious Question: where is the 2024 version of the Santa Fe Institute being built?? Where is a diverse group of thinkers and intellectuals and implementers - Pioneering complexity science/research and studying complex adaptive systems like climate issues with a global perspective? - Attracting the top interdisciplinary and diverse research and ‘doer’ #talent that can both explore and implement? - a hub for complex #systems research and education that brings together great minds from every single corner of the world regardless of educational qualification? - a place where new computational #models and simulations of our world + other worlds and the problems we are facing are being developed? - an environment that is stimulating #creativity both in its beauty and proximity to scenic nature? - Studying the interconnectedness of our physical, natural and virtual worlds? And the interconnectedness of every single person on the planet? This is a genuine question. And the answer is not the #Institute in New Mexico (even as it’s still a great place).

Professor Manuel Heitor Manuel Heitor, chair of an expert group evaluating the EU’s research and innovation funding programme, calls for a radical change in Europe’s approach to international collaboration in this field: "We need a budget of at least €220 billion, including a radical simplification in the application process." Heitor highlights the importance of increased collaboration, streamlined processes, and the urgency of preventing a brain drain of young researchers. Read Professor Manuel Heitor’s interview with #HorizonMagazine and discover how his vision could reshape the EU’s approach to international collaboration, research and the fight against brain drain of young scientists ➡️ europa.eu/!JVYDPy #ResearchImpactEU #HorizonEU Iliana Ivanova

Did you know that we are a partner of DRESDEN concept? This is the research alliance of Technische Universität Dresden and non-university research and cultural institutions from the #Dresden region. A total of 37 partner institutions have joined forces in the association to bundle synergies and jointly develop the Dresden science hub into a DRESDEN-concept #Science and #Innovation Campus. Together, we offer summer schools, networking events, ectures and many other events. All in the spirit of our mission: To show what an outstanding location Dresden is for science by identifying and coordinating research priorities, jointly attracting top staff and talents, and the joint use of resources. We're proud to be #partners and are looking forward to many more organizations joining the network. #ScienceCollaboration #CollaborativeScience #ResearchPartnerships #InterdisciplinaryResearch #TeamScience

A very important insight into Horizon programs. For the last 20 years ,I've been involved in many many projects , both as an evaluator as well as in bringing SME partners into consortia. I have always wondered if there is a real follow up on projects- what's the real benefit once the project is done? apart for the budget for the beneficiaries. Where's the real sustainability? who implements the results for the benefits of the EU citizens? who takes it to the market ? if at all... Moreover, the fact that many calls do not involve partners from the USA, not even benchmarking to alternatives developed in the states, makes big parts of this program detached from the rest of the world. One of the recent examples , is #Cancermission. Take #LungCancer #Exon20 mutation for example. Drugs are developed mainly in the US. But none of the US NGOs or companies are eligible for funding under these calls. Needless to say, that compassionate use is available for American citizens, yet less to Europeans. It's about time to have a deeper look into this program, to keep up with the world! Marcia Horn, JD Ashraf Abdelghany

4th International Possibility Studies Conference // 8th-12th of July 2024 - Cambridge, UK The 4th International Conference of Possibility Studies is held in person at the University of Cambridge and has the theme Expanding Conceptions for Research on Possibility. Highly interesting and inspiring interdisciplinary conference on the topic of (future) possibilities and creativity. Rarely have I experienced such an open-minded and at the same time intellectually stimulating and diverse community on the edge of the possible and the actual. Thanks to Vlad Glaveanu and his whole team. #possibiltystudies
