#PhDpositions #Phd 14 doctoral researchers (m/f/d) for the DFG-funded Research Training Group 2721: “Hydrogen Isotopes" The DFG-funded Research Training Group (RTG) 2721 is a consortium at Leipzig University, the Helmholtz-Zentrum Dresden-Rossendorf / Research Site Leipzig (HZDR/RSL) and the Leibniz Institute for Surface Engineering (IOM). It spans the fields of analytical, inorganic, organic, physical, and theoretical chemistry, chemical technology and physics. The RTG’s central goal is training tomorrow’s workforce in emerging technologies that exploit the unique properties of the hydrogen isotopes, 1,2,3H, in order to contribute to revolutionising drug design strategies, converting radioactive waste into precious materials, and, in the long run, a CO2-emission-free energy supply for the planet. https://lnkd.in/djzeCcsn

Our innovative strength is built on solid partnerships with leading European academic institutions. In Germany, we collaborate closely with RWTH Aachen University, Technische Universität Dortmund and the Fraunhofer IWM. In the Netherlands, we are part of the Meet the Youngsters platform, connecting us with regional universities and colleges. In the Czech Republic, we partner with Západočeská Universita (Plzeň). These partnerships enable us to bridge the gap between science and practice, driving the development of groundbreaking solutions. We’re proud to be part of these dynamic networks! 🔗 https://lnkd.in/eYqkRJMb #Innovation #Partnership #ShapingTheFuture

4th International Possibility Studies Conference // 8th-12th of July 2024 - Cambridge, UK The 4th International Conference of Possibility Studies is held in person at the University of Cambridge and has the theme Expanding Conceptions for Research on Possibility. Highly interesting and inspiring interdisciplinary conference on the topic of (future) possibilities and creativity. Rarely have I experienced such an open-minded and at the same time intellectually stimulating and diverse community on the edge of the possible and the actual. Thanks to Vlad Glaveanu and his whole team. #possibiltystudies

🚀 Creativity and Future Casting in Research! 🚀 The LABDA Academy team is delighted to share some inspiring insights from Professor Sebastien chastin's session on "Creativity and Future Casting in Research" at our joint event in Trondheim. 🌟 Professor Sebastien chastin from Glasgow Caledonian University delivered a thought-provoking presentation that highlighted the importance of creativity in research and how it can be harnessed to shape the future. Key Takeaways: 🔹 Epistemology and Paradigm Shifts: Exploring different paradigms and the Kuhn Cycle, Professor Chastin emphasized the significance of paradigm shifts in advancing scientific knowledge. 🔹 Boosting Creativity: Practical tools and strategies to enhance creativity in our daily research activities. 🔹 Complexity and Specialization: The balance between being a polymath and a hyper-specialist, and how complexity impacts our research approach. 🔹 Career Pathways: How to navigate and plan our career paths by leveraging creative thinking and innovative strategies. Prof. Seb's engaging session underscored the need for an open and creative mindset to drive meaningful research and innovation. His insights into the nature of scientific progress and the role of creativity in shaping our research journeys were truly inspiring. Thank you, Prof. Seb, for sharing your expertise and encouraging us to think beyond conventional boundaries. We look forward to implementing these creative strategies in our research endeavors. Here's the promised post about visiting #scientific #conferences as a #PhD #student. I outline main impressions and some of my learned lessons. In 2024 I attented 5 Conferences: 3 in Germany (different cities), 1 outside of Germany (Italy) and 1 overseas (USA). I participated in various roles: as a session chair, presented a poster and participated in roundtable discussions. Main conclusions (for PhD/Postdoc): - 🙋♂️ The best conference is the one when you're the only one from your group. This way you #meet way more new people and #learn more 🤝 . Otherwise, you stick to your "group" 🙅♂️ and meeting new people will be much harder. - 💡 Ask questions to learn something, not to test somebody. Also, there are no stupid questions. When something intriges you, acknowledge your ignorance, seize the chance and ask the #question. - 😊 Treat everyone the same: PIs, Postdocs, PhDs, everybody is your #colleague. Be nice to everyone. - 👨🔬 Be #genuine about your work. Show your #passion for your #work. - 👍 Show #respect to other's work if you asked them because it interested you. If it is not interesting, just don't ask. P.S.: Soon I'll write about how good and bad PIs are seen in conferences through a PhD eye.
