Seeking Funding for a #TranslationalScience Project? The Small Grants to Advance Translational Science (S-GATS) Program is offering awards of up to $50,000 to support innovative and collaborative projects aimed at advancing the science of translation. The program is designed to address critical challenges in translational research across various diseases and health conditions, while also encouraging the exploration of novel opportunities and pathways. It welcomes projects that target specific translational challenges—such as improving predictions of drug toxicity or efficacy, enhancing data interoperability, or optimizing clinical trial recruitment—as well as those that seek to leverage untapped opportunities within the field. The application process begins with the submission of a competitive Letter of Intent, due by Tuesday, October 8, 2024. If invited, a full proposal will be required by Thursday, December 19, 2024. To ensure that proposed research projects align with the 2025 request for applications, prospective applicants must consult with the S-GATS Program team prior to submitting their Letter of Intent. An information session will be held tomorrow (Thursday, September 12) @ 4PM! For consultation scheduling, registration for the information sessions, or any inquiries, please contact Nadia Prokofieva, MSSc, at sgats@tuftsmedicine.org. Additional information about this funding opportunity can be found on the Tufts CTSI S-GATS Program page. https://lnkd.in/dt4fhKBf Tufts Medical Center Tufts Medicine Tufts University

Semiofest 2024 is one week away! I am excited to join Luminous thought leaders and accomplished semioticians Malcolm Evans, Natasha Delliston, and Yogi H. to present on "Biosemiotics: Methodologically Evolving Applied Semiotics to Account for More Experiences, Deepen Relationships, and Transform Systems." We will discuss the evolution of applied #semiotics to tackle complex health issues while enhancing R&D, product development and commercial strategy in the #lifesciences. We endorse an evolved model of semiotics, one that builds on the depth of cultural and psychological insight to include biology - from physiology and biochemistry, to clinical treatment and care. We will showcase this through recent #biopharma examples in #obesity and GLP 1s, #raredisease, neurological disease, and more. The application of semiotics has helped the CPG industry innovate, and holds enormous promise for manufacturers of medicines and devices. If you would like a sneak peek, check out our recent panel Society for Applied Anthropology here: https://lnkd.in/dvtr8P3R Semiofest agenda here: https://lnkd.in/ew8tpSa2
