Participation in Drug Discovery 2024 – ELRIG Holds Potential for Latvia 🌍 Two highly productive days of networking at Europe’s largest drug discovery conference, #DrugDiscovery2024 – ELRIG, in London, have come to an end! Representing the Latvian Institute of Organic Synthesis (LIOS), Aigars Jirgensons (Deputy Director of Research) and Anna Stikāne (Head of Technology Transfer) believe the event could bring valuable opportunities for Latvia's life sciences sector 💡 Anna Stikāne shared: “During the event, we held over 50 meetings with company representatives, presenting our research and services. 📢 Can we eliminate hallucinations in conditional diffusion models without any fine-tuning? The answer is YES!💥 I am thrilled to announce that my paper, "Tackling Structural Hallucination in Image Translation with Local Diffusion", which I worked on during my internship AstraZeneca has been accepted for Oral presentation at ECCV 2024!🎉 🔍 In this paper, we tackle the issue of structural hallucinations in image translation tasks using conditional diffusion models, specifically caused by out-of-distribution (OOD) regions in conditional images—a problem that has not been explored before. Our experiments show that focusing on local image generation based on OOD segmentation significantly reduces hallucinations. From this, we propose a training-free framework, Local Diffusion, which separately generates and then fuses in-distribution (IND) and OOD regions, reducing hallucinations by 40% and 25% in medical and natural image datasets. This approach offers an efficient and promising solution to address hallucination in conditional diffusion models.
