🌍 It’s #WorldQualityWeek, and this year’s theme, "Quality: From Compliance to Performance," couldn’t be more fitting. As Head of Quality & Compliance at HBI EuroCaps, I’m reminded daily that quality isn’t just about ticking boxes. It’s about living up to our mission - Sustainably Exceeding Expectations - and putting our customers and patients at the heart of everything we do. For us, compliance is just the start. Real quality goes beyond that - it’s about building trust, driving improvement, and being proactive rather than reactive. Our Pharmaceutical Quality System helps lay a strong foundation, but it’s our focus on customer needs, continuous improvement, and a culture that values quality at every level that makes the difference. When quality becomes everyone's responsibility, it transforms our work and lets us go from meeting standards to exceeding them. To me, this means encouraging innovation, managing risks proactively, and fostering a learning culture that can adapt to changing market and customer needs. This week, let’s all take a moment to think about how we can bridge that gap from compliance to performance, turning quality into something that genuinely adds value - not just to our organisations, but to the people who rely on us. Today, we kicked off the 2024 celebration of World Quality Week at Thermo Fisher Scientific with events across the company and within its many businesses around the world. With every colleague taking personal responsibility for quality in everything we do, we’ll discuss how quality principles move organizations from compliance to outstanding performance as the expectations of customers and stakeholders rise. My dearest Connections & cherished friends, I come to you with a story of #resilience, #self-discovery, and an unyielding #commitment to #integrity amidst the ever-evolving landscape of the pharmaceutical industry—a journey filled with triumphs & tragedies, driven by a fervent desire for positive change. In 2007, I set forth on my professional voyage as a Microbiologist, eager to make my mark. Despite the initial hurdles, I embraced a role in Quality Control, where my dedication to excellence quickly caught the eye of my peers. As I progressed from #QC to #QA, #RA, & beyond, I encountered a myriad of challenges—from mastering #synthesis and #fermentation to navigating complex #clinical trials, #supply chain logistics, & commercial batch setups. Each obstacle became an opportunity for growth, shaping me into a versatile professional equipped with a diverse skill set, including business development, #marketing, & #sales, as well as overseeing Greenfield projects from land acquisition to plant handover. Yet, amidst my professional aspirations, I found myself confronted by a moral dilemma—a harsh reality that shook me to my core. I witnessed the lengths to which pharmaceutical companies would go to maximize profits, resorting to #adulteration of medicines with #lethal solvents like #chloroform and #formalin, using contaminated #excipients, and including #expired APIs. These unethical practices stood in stark contrast to my values, prompting me to contemplate establishing my own pharmaceutical organization rooted in ethical conduct. However, before I could take that leap, tragedy struck—a heartbreaking incident that served as a sobering reminder of the human cost of greed. The news of 65 innocent #children in #Gambia losing their lives due to consuming adulterated syrup shattered my soul, igniting a fire within me to speak out against such injustices so that no any #family & #children in globe including yours & mine will suffer with such incidents as the children of Gambia suffered. Driven by #emotion & a sense of duty to #humanity, I raised my voice to expose the unethical practices rampant in the pharmaceutical industry, even though it made me a target of #corrupt regulatory agencies, #Government and #pharma cos ultimately leads to left me jobless. This journey has not been without its sacrifices. I have witnessed my family endure hardship and struggle as a result of my actions, yet I remain steadfast in my commitment to integrity and justice. As I navigate this uncertain path, I turn to you, my trusted friends and connections, for guidance and support. Together, let us stand as beacons of integrity in a world marred by ambiguity and deceit. Let us forge a future where success is measured not by profit margins, but by the positive impact we leave on the world. I am not able to understand where I was wrong. I am looking for a mentor who can reshape and shine me by correcting my missed steps.
