Contracts-for-difference for solar/onshore wind might not be all that jazz in Western Europe anymore, but they are an absolute hit in the #Balkans. #Romania just closed its first auction with 1.5GW contracts awarded, #Serbia has launched its second CfD round and getting projects from the first rolled into the grid, #Croatia concluded its first auction in summer and #Albania its fourth. Some developers are local, but most of them are not and they are bringing international teams and expertise along, which will hopefully add a kick to Eastern Europe's ongoing progress and global integration. Open access to U.S. electricity markets is ending. The Federal Energy Regulatory Commission has approved CAISO's proposal (Docket ER24-2671) to ration #interconnection entry by relying on scoring criteria and procurement preferences from load-serving entities. This compromise goes too far and opens the door to other RTOs/ISOs to choose criteria of their own liking to ration interconnection process entry.
