The 8th Clean Maritime Fuel Forum was set to be a premier event for sustainable shipping enthusiasts. This forum brings together marine authorities, industry leaders, policymakers, classification societies, shipowners, and innovators to discuss the latest advancements in clean marine fuels, regulatory developments, and strategies to reduce maritime emissions. It’s an excellent opportunity for networking and exploring collaborative efforts to achieve a greener maritime sector.

Robbie Woods, Programme Director for Te Utanganui, recently took to the stage at the Future Roads Conference, a premier event for New Zealand’s roading sector. Te Utanganui is a unique intermodal distribution hub, strategically located in Manawatū and servicing New Zealand. In his presentation, Robbie highlighted this strong positioning - connecting rail, road, air, and sea. It was also an opportunity to update the roading industry on the progress made and future plans and opportunities for the project. 🚢🌊 New Initiative: Baltic FIT Project for Maritime Decarbonization! 🌊🚢 We are thrilled to introduce the Baltic FIT project, a groundbreaking initiative aimed at building a network of excellence among organizations from the Baltic Sea Region. This project is designed to help maritime transport meet the 'Fit for 55' regulations, focusing on decarbonization over the next three years. Our innovation strategy, consisting of five key objectives, aims to strengthen the positions of TalTech Estonian Maritime Academy, TEKNOLOGIAN TUTKIMUSKESKUS VTT OY, and RISE Research Institutes of Sweden in the field of maritime decarbonization, with the support by Anrömind OÜ Our journey began on June 3rd with a productive introductory meeting where we discussed our primary goals and the collaborative efforts needed to drive this project forward. Key activities will include innovation workshops, strategic R&I planning, summer schools, and short-term staff exchanges. We also look forward to joint innovation projects and conference attendance to share our findings and advance maritime decarbonization. I’m looking forward to speaking at #RIEurope2024 tomorrow, sharing thoughts on how investors can make a start on nature, based on our own experience at Scottish Widows, including: 1. Understand exposure to nature related dependencies and impacts in your investment portfolio 2. Develop engagement priorities based on the outcomes of that analysis 3. Explore nature related investment opportunities across different asset classes (suitable for pension funds…) 4. Assess what meaningful nature related data is available from data providers and asset managers - and what you are going to do with it (action beyond reporting) 5. Look at tangible sub-themes such as water, waste and deforestation which may be easier to start with than a complex biodiversity footprint
