I echo this big time!! Most Australian start-ups are utilising (renting) US or EU AI models to build AI-powered innovative tools. While this approach can be effective and helpful for specific use cases, it's output may be biased (because the AI model wasn't trained on Australian datasets) and in the big picture it may not be the best long term solution and/or the best way for Australia to run the global AI race. Building LLM or NLP would be time consuming, requires massive investment, resources, and researchers. But it may be the most promising and worth-the-cost strategy. #innovation #AI #rethink #techsustainability

Imagine a society that can browse a simple, user-friendly database; see the latest federal, provincial/state, or city agenda and its major topics; and look up any of legislator to see data and stories about their activities, politics, policy interests and personal background. No wonder so many politicians are scrambling to restrict and handicap its capabilities, when this is the future that AI can offer you.
