Aligned with this is also one of the outcomes of the Tech Talks, the conference organized by the Politehnica University Timisoara. Although AI dominated this year's discussions, the context highlighted the extraordinary importance of early education, brilliantly exemplified by Cornel Amariei's inspiring speech. He shared a story about how a high school principal, instead of punishing an unconventional act by a student, chose to offer him a growth opportunity: establishing a robotics lab. Furthermore, Garry Kasparov emphasized a crucial advantage of AI: the imperative need for schools to reinvent themselves. The outdated educational methods of the 19th century are no longer suitable in today’s educational landscape, where content must undergo radical transformation.

On April 20th, 2021, I began my PhD journey at Tallinn University of Technology, guided by the esteemed supervision of Professors Maksim Jenihhin and Masoud Daneshtalab. Now, 3 𝐲𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐬 into my research life, I am humbled to be nearing 100 𝐜𝐢𝐭𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬 and contributing to 20+ 𝐬𝐜𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐢𝐟𝐢𝐜 𝐩𝐚𝐩𝐞𝐫𝐬. But let’s not roll the credits yet—this 𝘗𝘩𝘋 𝘴𝘢𝘨𝘢 has more chapters to come! 😀 I want to use this moment to announce that I have been 𝐠𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐝 ✨ a project by the 𝐀𝐫𝐭𝐢𝐟𝐢𝐜𝐢𝐚𝐥 𝐈𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐥𝐥𝐢𝐠𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐑𝐨𝐛𝐨𝐭𝐢𝐜𝐬 𝐂𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐫 𝐀𝐈𝐑𝐄 (𝐄𝐃𝐈𝐇), where I will serve as the 𝐏𝐈. This project is co-financed by the 𝐄𝐮𝐫𝐨𝐩𝐞𝐚𝐧 𝐔𝐧𝐢𝐨𝐧’s “𝐄𝐮𝐫𝐨𝐩𝐞𝐚𝐧 𝐃𝐢𝐠𝐢𝐭𝐚𝐥 𝐈𝐧𝐧𝐨𝐯𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐇𝐮𝐛𝐬” program and the 𝐌𝐢𝐧𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐲 𝐨𝐟 𝐄𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐨𝐦𝐢𝐜 𝐀𝐟𝐟𝐚𝐢𝐫𝐬 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐂𝐨𝐦𝐦𝐮𝐧𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬. The decision to have a robot speak drew mixed reactions, with some expressing dissatisfaction. Sophia, who offered generic advice common at graduation ceremonies, emphasized the importance of lifelong learning, adaptability, pursuing passions, taking risks, fostering connections, and believing in oneself. University President Dr. Lorrie Clemo defended the unconventional choice, highlighting the rapid emergence of artificial intelligence into society and the potential for technology to enrich human experiences. Sophia did not follow the traditional attire of commencement speakers, instead wearing a D'Youville University hoodie. I’m excited to share that I’ll be facilitating an online BootCamp for GAIC, working with talented #Tunisianstudents from 𝐈𝐀𝐒 (Industry Applications Society) and IEEE (Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers). 𝐈𝐀𝐒 is a volunteer-driven organization for engineering professionals dedicated to advancing the theory and practice of electrical and electronic systems. IEEE is the world’s largest technical professional organization, committed to advancing technology for the benefit of humanity. IEEE and its members inspire a global community through highly cited publications, conferences, technology standards, and professional and educational activities. This session would not have been possible without the support and intervention of Nada Saidani, whose efforts have been instrumental in connecting students with industry professionals who are leading the way in generative AI.
