💬 #CarotidWeb is an intimal variant of fibromuscular dysplasia known for its high thrombogenic potential. It significantly contributes to cryptogenic and recurrent ischemic strokes, especially in younger patients. Given the elevated risk of recurrent events, appropriate management of carotid webs is important. 🧠 I had the privilege of being part of a team from the Clinic for Neurology, University Clinical Centre of Vojvodina, that presented a patient with an incidental finding of carotid web during a posterior circulation stroke evaluation at the 27th Conference of the European Society of Neurosonology and Cerebral Hemodynamics (ESNCH) in Almeria 🇪🇸, highlighting the critical role of Doppler sonography in the visualization and assessment of carotid artery anomalies. #Neurosonology #Neurology #Stroke

#cardiacarrest #neuroscience #coma #hormones #medicine #medicalsciences https://lnkd.in/ggue4jgE Ghrelin for #Neuroprotection in Post–Cardiac Arrest Coma Key Points Question Is treatment with the endogenous #hormone #ghrelin safe and potentially efficacious in improving the neurological outcome of patients in a coma after #cardiac #arrest? Findings In this phase 2, placebo-controlled, multicenter, randomized clinical trial that included 160 patients in a coma within 12 hours of cardiac arrest, treatment with intravenous acyl-ghrelin for 1 week was safe. Neurological outcome by the cerebral performance categories was nonsignificantly better, and neuron-specific enolase levels were significantly lower in the intervention group. Meaning Acyl-ghrelin demonstrated safety and potential efficacy in enhancing neurological outcome. Phase 3 trials are needed for conclusive evidence.

An octogenarian presented with a week-long history of generalized weakness, altered consciousness & drowsiness, alongside 1-month h/o swelling in the right temporal region. MRI revealed a large, aggressive extra-axial mass with vivid enhancement in the right FT region, invading the underlying brain and overlying scalp, leading to midline shift. Preoperative embolization of ECA feeders using PVA particles was carried out, while ICA feeders were not addressed due to their supply originating from cortical (pial) branches. Subsequently, the patient underwent decompression craniotomy and debulking, leading to clinical improvement. *HPE: poorly differentiated tumour of epithelial origin possibly metastatic. #Neurosurgery #interventionalneuroradiology #neurointervention #endovascularneurosurgery #ir #interventionalneurology #preoperativeembolistion #tumorembolisation #stni #isvir #snvi #isnr #SparshHospital #bengaluru
