WE ALL HAVE A PART TO PLAY IN SHAPING OUR FUTURE 🌏 One way to do that is to make a submission to the Government’s Draft Emissions Reduction Plan, but you need to do so before next Wednesday, August 21st. And we urge you to do just that. WHY IS IT IMPORTANT THAT YOU HAVE YOUR SAY? New Zealand has domestic climate change targets. Clean energy fuelling transport, low carbon manufacturing providing high paying jobs, lower emissions from agriculture through improved technology and forestry playing its part to help reduce carbon in our atmosphere. Are they ‘fit for purpose’? Are we doing enough? And what does this mean for us in Tairāwhiti? The Government’s latest 5-year emissions reduction plan sets out the targets and an action plan across all sectors to meet these targets. As households, businesses and communities our opinion in this is critical to our success on this journey. That’s why we urge you to find out more and to submit your submission to the Ministry for the Environment: https://lnkd.in/exYjRQrz

Today the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) made history for climate, clean air, and public health with the issuance of more stringent tailpipe emissions standards for passenger vehicles starting in 2027 and beyond. This is a HUGE milestone for transportation electrification and will help the U.S. drive down emissions in the sector that is the largest contributor to damaging climate change and dirty air. https://lnkd.in/gvWa4wXc

This is a bold move by California, reaffirming the state's leadership in environmental responsibility. Businesses will need to adapt quickly, but this also opens opportunities for innovation in emissions tracking and reporting technologies. It’s a reminder that sustainability isn’t just an obligation—it's an integral part of a resilient, forward-thinking business strategy. Looking forward to seeing how companies rise to the challenge. #Sustainability #ESG #ClimateAction #EmissionsReporting

The Guardian's reporting on climate-breakdown hit the floor some years ago and this piece maintains that poor standard. It is important for the agricultural sector in Wales in particular to realise that a 78% cut in emissions by 2035 could mean a gradual year-on-year reduction of operational emissions of between 8-10%. In most cases, that will equate to between 40-80T/CO2e a year. Planting trees, according to the Climate Change Committee's accounting methodology is not going to help. Act now. Build gradually. Expect emissions from business and agriculture to be taxed by 2026 https://lnkd.in/e3Z3yWiP

The EPA’s new carbon capture and sequestration standards at power plants have a major potential impact! They could cut emissions by 1.4 billion tons over the next 20 years and bring in $390 billion in climate and health benefits. Unsurprisingly, many well-funded interests are not on board. Anti-environment and fossil fuel groups tried to get the Supreme Court to block these standards. But on October 16th, the Court said no, so the EPA’s rules are still in place. https://lnkd.in/gZ564Rfg #epa #powerplants #supremecourt

If you haven't listened to this already, then please do so. This news piece by Eloise Gibson encapsulates exactly what Alimentary Systems has presented to ministers and MPs, both within the incumbent and previous governments, including Hon Judith Collins KC MP Megan Woods Grant Robertson and James Shaw , to name a few. Our proprietary waste processing methodology capitalises gross emissions reductions. By processing 10,000 tonnes per day of council waste and sludge - which is Aotearoa New Zealand's current waste volume - we can reduce an equivalent of 4.3 million tonnes of CO2 per annum. The capital cost for this technology is estimated to be approximately $1.5 billion. Over five years however, this translates to a cumulative reduction of 21.72 million tonnes of CO2 equivalent emissions, valued at $1.19 billion at current prices, or approx $2.15 billion at 2030 prices. Either way, it represents a fifth of NZ's commitments as part of its target to 2030. #waste #compliance #ndc #unfccc #newzealand #carboncredits #infrastructure #sludge https://lnkd.in/g9VaYjZy
